The remakes were really good. And VII was fantastic. The games are getting better with each passing release, this is something thats going against the trend of Japanese games. They look similar to me and distinctively different from the other Genkai Tokki games, and while I loved the aesthetic and characters in Sorcery Saga, the gameplay ruined it for me. I'd love to play something that has the same charm, but with a more standard turn based RPG system.

I'd mostly say that the makers and such should be present on the games for other aspects aside from combat. It would be really cheaper for the game developing. Less balancing, lett animations to create, etc. Plus, it would make way more sense storywise not to have humans and goddesses fighting side by side.
