sure why not I'm getting tired of nothing but shooters, we need a comeback of racing and platformers

anything.
>>
>>387441864
Absolutely, sumo digital should make outrun 3 and revive arcade racers.
>>
>>387442260

Forza Motorsport, Horizon, PCars, Assetto Corsa, Mario Kart
>and platformers
set the date for 10/27/17, the GOAT is coming.
>>
>>387442326
Why do revive the genre if two of the greatest arcade racing games are already on the stores?
>>
>>387442528
>3/5 racing games listed are boring simcade shit

Arcade racing games are pretty much dead
>>
>>387442730
All the "arcade" racers these days are either open world or kart racers, I just want straightforward track design, feel-good handling, and awesome tunes.
Speaking of which, Namco should revive Ridge Racer as well.
>>
>>387441864
Eh. Not really. It doesn't exactly have a huge specific setting that makes it especially worthy as an IP unlike say TES or No One Lives Forever.

You can just make an arcade racer and call it "Racing Rampage" or something and it wouldn't really lose anything from not being called Outrun. The label doesn't really add anything.
>>
>>387442528
5 racing games, now how many shooters are about to come out? shit's oversaturated m8
>>
>>387442920
Ok but MK8 an FH3 are two of the greatest arcade racing games ever, so yeah the genre is pretty much healthy and alive
>>
>>387443047
>The label doesn't really add anything.
Can't use Magical Sound Shower if it's not Outrun.
>>
>>387443185
Yeah but you can just play it in the background while racing.
>>
>>387443018
Go play some of the old gems then, I can't see your problem actually.
And no, Ridge Racer was utterly disgusting. I'm so glad that it's dead now.
>>
>>387441864
Fuck yes, it should. At the very least put fucking Coast to Coast back on Steam, you fucking assholes. I had to pirate that shit and it took no less than 3 hours to set up the controllers due to some fuckery.
>>
Suzuki and Sumo need to team up for OutRun 3 with PSVR support fucking NOW
>>
>>387443462
A dead man and a mediocre studio? No thanks.
>>
>>387443047
But it has specific mechanics/level structures that make it unique. Sure another IP could use those same ideas and I'm surprised they haven't but that's true of any idea, whether that be setting, mechanic, visual style or whatever.

I for one would love to see OutRun come back.
>>

Bro I love MK but fuck no, SASRT was everything MK was but better. And that's a kart racer anyways, different sub genre.

One thing I really appreciate is how laid back the game is. It's an arcade racer and there is a timer ticking down, but overall there is this really nice, calm atmosphere created by driving through the different landscapes.
I just want more games like that. Simple, but enjoyable gameplay and relaxing environments.

>>
>>387444649
Just torrent it. 2006: Coast to Coast shouldn't be THAT hard to find. I got it running with some graphics mods not too long ago.
Only problem is that the game fucking crashes when playing outrun mode and selecting any car but the default two. There's also a somewhat minor graphical glitch of the driver model not appearing in the car. I have no idea why this happens or how to fix it. Playing the original Outrun 2SP mode fixes it, but it's still annoying.
Finding answers online is hell, because you'll only find obscure forum posts from 2008 or something. None of them listing these specific problems.

>>387446815
These issues popped up before adding the mods though. Funny thing is that the game worked flawlessly for a while, but as I made more progress it seems that the game has trouble loading outrun mode or something and just crashes on the loading screen.
I guess that's not an issues when playing Outrun 2SP mode for some reason. Maybe everything is already kind of loaded and the game doesn't have to go through the same process? I don't know the technical aspects of it, but that's my guess. Though, time trial works with any car so it's a mystery.
>>
>>387447269
I torrented this game and that usually means they come with problems but this game has been running smoothly since I downloaded and have not had any graphical problems or crashes in all of the time i've been playing it. I've unlocked all the cars and used them all.

I think Outrun 3 should be a huge VR arcade cabinet.

The original was impressive, and Outrun 2 was great as well, but imagine a somewhat life sized driver seat, with a dashboard you could touch, several fans above you that are inside the machine (to simulate wind depending on the speeds you go), a gear stick and everything else that a realistic car would have.

Make the chair move left and right depending on drifts and intensity, and boom you'd have a pretty cool Outrun game.

Not sure if it's possible, or if it would be profitable, but damn it would be fun.
>>
>>387447380
I may just have to reinstall. It kind of sucks, because it takes a while to unlock the later cars. I guess I can remedy it by just saving up points for one car I really want and ignore the rest, but it feels nice to have them all, plus various colours.

AM2 is functionally and essentially dead
Yu Suzuki has left SEGA
After shenmue 3 tanks he will definitely never return to the AM2 skeleton crew

If outrun 3 happens it's going to be some chink company doing it like what's happening to daytona usa 3.

And even if all I just said was false and by a miracle the planets lined up, outrun 3 would still be stuck in arcades. Outrun 2 was quite a rare exception because sumo digital pushed hard for sega let them port it to home consoles, and they still had to recode the game from scratch. To this day sega continues to make racing (and other) games that do not leave the arcades. Just a few weeks ago another arcade exclusive racing game was anounced by sega, and western media doesn't even report it, I can understand why but only makes it more likely the games will never be ported.

Don't forget popular games like daytona usa 2 and scud race never saw and probably never will see a home port. Along with a bunch more.

Sega is incredibly pig-headed.

I don't think the technology is quite there yet, but I'd be down for a randomized mode that pulls random tracks, regular or reversed, from a list. It'd be such a simple inclusion.

Asking one more time. Who would be interested in trying to set up C2C online using Tunngle?
You need the game and you'll have to download the program and make an account. If no one wants to get in on this, I'm not going to bother.
The game allows for a maximum of 6 players by the way.
>>
>>387454612
Heh?
It would be quit easy to do, it's just a matter of combining a bunch of prefab segments and curves. Mix and match randomly and there you go.
>>
>>387454979
Sure.
>>
Tunngle seems kind of shitty. Apparently, there are ads unless you pay for a premium version. Is this the case with Hamachi as well? If so, I guess I can get over it, but if there's an ad-free alternative, I think we should use that.
>>
>>387455651
I'm pretty sure hamachi is pure malware now, isn't it?
>>
>>387455651
Hamachi has bullshit limitations unless you cough up for the premium version. I got GameRanger some time ago for Swat 4 shenanigans some time ago and it seemed fine.
>>
>>387455914
Yeah, it has an ad banner on the client window but that's the extent of it. I'm more partial to it than Tunngle simply because I have it set up already.
>>
>>387455914
How does GameRanger work? Tunngle looks fishy as fuck and the UI is kind of bloated.
>>
>>387456287
Apparently it only works with games that have been outright added by the developers, you can't add arbitrary applications to the list. Bullshit.
>>
>>387456548
Well, fuck. Do you guys have Tunngle set up so we can at least try it out?
>>
>>387456623
Evolve apparently works with Outrun and I recall it being way less shifty, it's just a bit bloated. I played that leaked version of Halo Online with it when that was still a thing.
>>
It should, but it won't. Sega is too busy rehashing Initial D games and they don't want Outrun taking a slice from that pie. Sega is a very non-competitive publisher.
>>
Apparently, there is an updated patch(as of december 2016) that fixes some shit. It says something about experimental LAN mode, but I haven't tested it yet.

Buy WipEout Omega Collection if you have a PS4. WipEout HD is already an amazing game and the Fury expansion adds a lot of content, plus you get the 2048 tracks from the Vita game essentially getting you a double expansion pack for the price of one.

Ferrari Licenses Fees.
unless they pay them again, they are legally forced to take down anything they did with that Ferrari license as possible.

Jesus Christ. Is Sega the biggest corporate whore in Japan? Nearly EVERYTHING they make besides Sonic has ties to some megacorp in one way or another. Migu is full of Sony music label music, Yakuza is full of Sony music label music and Sony owned manga publishing houses, Initial D is based on a Sony owned manga... well maybe they're just Sony sluts.

>>387450048
I had fun with The Crew for this purpose, ignore everything and chill
>>
>>387449520
Dreamcast/PC version is even better.

Ferrari is picky with lending the rights to their cars
>>
>>387458542
car manufacturers in general are picky about how their cars are portrayed in games, nfs underground 2 didn't have police in the game because apparently honda did not allow it
>>
>>387457974
I'll buy it eventually. I'm a poorfag so I don't exactly have a whole lot of extra money to throw around.

Same here. For all the retarded and aggravating shit the game did, it did make for a seriously good roadtripping game. I got a lot of mileage from the game by just exploring the world map with a nice set of wheels. The radio was a bit of a letdown though, it did have some good tunes but way too little of it and became repetitive a bit too fast, the game really needed a proper custom music feature.
>>
>>387458839
Yeah. Also that's why the damage in racing sims is never burn out tier. Car manufacturers don't want to see them trashed.

And Porsche was in EAs pockets till recently. Finally no more RUFs
>>
>>387459335
>Finally no more RUFs
RUFs are great you philistine. But yeah, I'm happy as well to actually see Porsches in proper racing games, EA's mostly been squandering the license on subpar NFS titles and mobile shit in the past years. Rumor has it that Porsche themselves felt bamboozled and unhappy towards the exclusivity in the recent years.

Don't get me wrong I love the YellowBird but I love the 956 even more.

Knowing Turn 10. We are only going to get one or the other.
>>
>>387457238
Downloaded and extracted this in a backup of my current C2C folder. I can't steer left/right anymore. I know I had this exact problem earlier, so it's not the hack itself, but something else I can't figure out.
Might just have to do a clean installation, but I'd have to redownload the game. As for the LAN options, I have no idea how they work, but I think it's just for LAN and not online. We'll still need an external client for that shit.

Speaking of the Yellowbird, they're actually making a homage for its 30th anniversary. 700 horsepower moving 1200kg of carbon fiber should make it plenty fast.

Is it me or is Outrun 1 extremely hard? I drive in top gear almost perfectly and still time out on the second stage. Playing in arcade in Yakuza 0

Alternatively emulate the ps2/psp versions.
>>
>>387460439
Well, it is a classic arcade game. Of course it will be hard as fuck.
>>
>>387460506

I tried emulating the PS2 version and it was awful.

I couldn't get it run at native res properly before it crashed. The PC version works perfectly fine on any machine and has controller support/rumble without any hassle.

Not sure about the PSP version though.

There's also licensing involved with ToeJam & Earl, some Sonic music, Daytona, Vectorman, Comix Zone Vocal song, Football Manager, Warhammer, Mario & Sonic at Olympics, Rez, Valkyria Chronicles, & Wonder Boy.
>>
With how popular vaporwave was and how there seems to be a lot of nostalgia for the 80s/90s, I can see an Outrun homage game being fairly successful if done right.

Thanks for the thread, guys. Final bump.
