Its not though, it has USB ports, SD card slots and Ethernet ports, which means it'll be recieving downloaded content and updates through internet connection.

Allegedly according to Atari it will play "New Modern Games" So does that mean Mobile shit and indies, or actual third party dev'd PS4/Xbone titles and First party?

mobile games are considered modern games.

>Modernism

Jesus christ this console is ugly. Whats with modern art and these monochrome raised/lowered line designs? PS4 is literally a fucking paralellogram, what as wrong with the old CPU console design?
>>
>>387426993
the ouya was truly ahead of its time
>>
If it's an open system where I can install Kodi & emulators among other things then I might get one assuming it's not over $150.
>>
>>387427285
Its specs are speculated (at least atari claims) to rival current gen consoles on market, so expect $250+
>>
Ouya 2.0
>>
>>387427267
Actually yeah it was. People laughed at the idea of a 'console' using one of Nvidia's mobile SOCs because there was no way it would play games like Skyrim.
Fast forward to today, the Switch is a console built with one of Nvidia's mobile SOCs and it can play Skyrim.
>>
>>387427397
Thats because Nintendo has the unlimited funding to sink into an experimental device like the switch. Ouya went fucking bankrupt after a few hundred releases. Look at nintendo right now, the only reason people buy the switch is ebcause it has nintendo IPs that they like and familiarity. Imagine if the switch launched with only mobile ports and some indies. do you really think it would even survive when everyone in this ages has an S4 or higher?
>>
>>387427338
Wait, what? Atari is trying to get back into the console industry?
>>
>>387426753
>fulfill the nostalgia meme of 30 yo manbabbies

30 year olds are too young for this. Closer to 40.
>>
>Original Atari IPs

Would not hold. Atari was the basis for every genre on the market, if a new title came out it would feel inferior to the curent competition.

>Highway loses to NFS, Forza, Gran Turismo
>Space invaders loses to R-type, Tohou, Gradius
>Asteroids loses to Starfox, EVE and any other space arcade
>Adventure loses to Zelda and every other single adventure game
>Pacman, Digdug, Donkeykong are all licensed titles that can't be reimagined by atari because they are ports that already evolved past that threshold by their respective companies

Its gonna fail any way you look at it.
>>
>>387426981
Because we're talking the company that sent the love letter to the first major crash in video games due to over-saturation then proceeded to sell it's name to some nobody huffing paint and smearing nostalgia images on the wall in his shit. Atari is literally the 70s version of EA, but thousands of times worse by every conceivable way possible due to this. Somehow they have remained as the hollowed out husk of the fallen sith lords that control our universe. And somehow people are excited by this. It's as if they told us Aliens exist, here's evidence, then revealing all it was is a jar of glowing piss.
>>
>>387427572
There's definitely some experimental aspects to the Switch, but at its core its an off the shelf Nvidia SOC with a feature set not that different from Nvidia's Shield tablets.
>>
>>387427903
They already tried "modernizing" classic titles like this in the PS1 era
>>
>>387427338
That's silly when it doesn't sound like it's going to have multiplats or first party Atari games that rival the console competition. The console itself doesn't have visible ventilation so I doubt they plan to put anything graphically demanding on it.

Reminder that:

>Witcher 3 Hairworks ran bad on AMD cards so AMD created lies that Gameworks has malicious code in the .dll files which hits AMD cards harder than Nvidia cards, despite Hairworks running equally bad on both
>AMD blamed Gameworks for sub-par performance in Project Cars, even though it later turned out that game didn't use Gameworks but the devs worked together with Nvidia to make the game run good on Nvidia hardware
>Project Cars devs have reached out multiple times to AMD with latest builds attempting to work together with them too, but AMD flat out didn't respond for months and overall didn't seem to care much
>A lot of other devs say the same thing about AMD and that Nvidia immediatly pushes for co-operation with devs on newly announced PC games

AMD will ALWAYS blame their competition and AMD LOVES to play the victim.

One of the metroid killer gameplay mechanics is making use of that 3rd dimension to explore and be ambushed by stalking and camping enemies. The longer you stay in an area and the more you move in it, the higher the chance that you attract hunting creatures from nearby areas. One of the planned bosses is a tunneling Rockwyrm that you may fight several times over different areas. It literally tunnels into the area you are in if you make enough noise and attacks you, and then retreats. We are still debating whether giving it a lair / final area to fight it in would be worth the effort if the player could potentially kill it before reaching that area.

Ryzen is slower than Kabylake, this is something that even AMD admit.
For god sake, 7700k is superior to AMD when it comes to gaming, but with the same price as 7700k you can get twice the amount of core for your everyday use.

That is where the real value is for the Ryzen CPUs.

>Your PC is in a different room

Who the fuck keeps electronics seperated? Don't tell me you're one of those people who keeps a TV in every fucking room of the house.

>It uses your local network so there's next to no latency,
Entirely false. I've had a Steamlink and it ran like pure shit with constant drops and crashed anytime you tried to go online. Go away valve shill.

My PC at a desk in my office. My TV is a projector in my living room, it's the only TV.

I've never experienced drops, did you actually hardwire it to your network? It's bad over WiFi obviously, but if both your PC and your steam link are both wired into the network, its pretty responsive.
