>$20 DLC
>doesn't even add new assets
>doesn't add new levels or anything
>you just replay the game as Luigi, with a shorter time limit on the levels
Why wasn't there a huge shitstorm over this? This is the worst form of DLC imaginable.
>>
>>387411201
Yeah I share the same opinion
believe it or not I discovered all levels were 30 seconds limited only after purchase
Worst mistake I've made in my life
>>
>>387411201
>Why wasn't there a huge shitstorm over this?
because the game is fucking amazing
>>
>>387411263
It just blows my mind that Nintendo fans are okay with getting dicked like this. I even see Luigi U recommended in a lot of wii U threads
>>
Blame every other equally shitty DLC that was successful before Nintendo figured it out, and the retards who bought them.
>>
>>387411298
How? Its just NSMBU except shorter and you play as Luigi.
>>
>>387411201
>you just replay the game as Luigi, with a shorter time limit on the levels

This is big fat disgusting lie. This is not the same game.
>>
>>387411201
I know it's the most obnoxious form of shitposting, but nothing really fits besides: "It's okay when Nintendo does it."
>>
>>387411201

Because Luigi U is a great improvement over the original game and $20 is less than the price of a pizza.
I like Luigi U most than the whole new super mario franchise.
>>
>>387411370
you just confirmed that you never played it

yup, I'm definitely on /v/
>>
>>387411201
>Why wasn't there a huge shitstorm over this?
Because no one fucking owns a wiiU, so no one cares or knows about this.
I thought it was included with the main game.
>>
>>387411437
what pizzas are you buying
>>
>>387411350
I honestly can't even think of ANY DLC that's as Jewish as Luigi U is. It would be like if Jeanne in Bayonetta was $20 DLC.
>>387411437
>and $20 is less than the price of a pizza.
So what? Why try to justify it like that?
If its so good then they should've just made NSMBU as good as NSLU from the get-go, instead of jewing their customers.
>>
>>387411317
>I even see Luigi U recommended in a lot of wii U threads
because they are retarded. I owned a Wii U and I never went to any Nintendo forum because I know they are too obsessed with everything that is Nintendo exclusive.
>>387411437
> $20 is less than the price of a pizza.
maybe in Canada or Australia
The Luigi DLC has like 30~40 seconds limits I don't remember. It's garbage
>>
>>387411503
>Because no one fucking owns a wiiU
jesus, low tier bait after low tier bait. it never ends. this board is hilarious
>>
>>387411549

Not as hilarious an WiiU owners. Yes, both of them.
>>
>>387411626
>still trying
adorable
>>
>being so bored and out of shitposting material you need to look at shit nobody even remembers
>>
>>387411717

It was a joke, autist.
>>
>>387411834
>its literally okay when Nintendo does it
>>
>$20
???
>>
>>387412112
It was $20 when it came out retard, and that Nintendo Selects isn't available in the US.
>>
>>387411201
All of the levels are new
>>
>>387412226
No they aren't
>>
>>387412187
???
>>
>>387412326
That's not Nintendo selects and it didn't come out until like 3 years after the DLC did.
>>
>>387412264
The overworld is the same. Every level spot on the map contains a new level. At least learn what you want to shitpost about before you shitpost about it.

>>387412264
Yes they are, don't lie. The levels in luigi U do not exist in the original U game.
>>
>I HAVEN'T PLAYED A GAME BUT I MUST SHITPOST ABOUT IT!!!
Pathetic desu
>>
>>387412383
The levels are barely "new," they're just shortened and rearranged versions of the original levels. They're like half-new.
>>
>>387412495
And every song in existence is just the same song with the notes rearranged, right?
>>
>>387412495
And...? The levels are rearranged and have new enemies and layouts to accommodate the new time limit, thus they are in effect new. You play through them very differently than you do with the first game.
>>
>>387412589
If they're going to make me pay for this I expect some new assets, new enemies, actual new shit not seen in the base game.
>>
>>387412495
If they are half new (your words) then the DLC is in fact worth $30 dollars. Isn't it a steal at $20?
>>
>>387412648
If they can't even be assed to actually work and make new shit then it should've been a free update.
>>
>>387412636
Why? In a platformer, where all that matters is the level design and movement, which are both changed. You just want to shitpost don't you?
>>
>>387412727
Enemies and assets are part of level design, retard.
>>
>>387412720
But they did make new shit? All the levels are new, and they aren't designed lazily too, they all fit nicely into the new time limit.
>>
>>387412767
That's why enemy placement is changed. Also assets are part of level design? Since when? You can make different levels with the same tileset and assets
>>
>>387412776
>All the levels are new,
no, they just stuck NSMBU in a level editor and shortened it
>they aren't designed lazily
they are
>>387412840
>Also assets are part of level design? Since when?
adding new gadgets and shit is obviously going to influence level design.
Really blows my mind that Nintendo drones shit on other companies for lazy DLC and then defend this crap. Really shows that Nintendo honestly isn't any different from the other big companies.
>>
>>387412636
Then don't fucking pay for this, why is this so hard to understand? People are willing to pay because the game offers a completely new experience as compared to Mario U
>>
>>387412947
I'm trying to understand why Nintendo fans defend lazy DLC. Is that one of your main shitposting points about other companies, how they charge for lazy DLC? Nintendo is just as greedy and lazy as the others.
>>
>>387412930
>they are
Good argument, but they actually aren't. The shortening is not only the only change they made, and you know this

And funny thing is you seem to care about fucking assets in a platformer. Surely a new tileset would make everything different!

Oh and busting out the fanboy argument when you said here yourself>>387412495 that it is in fact worth more than $20? What a strange person
>>
Why not be glad that they soon after found out how DLC should be done?
>>
>>387413053
HW has terrible DLC too.
>>387413032
>that it is in fact worth more than $20?
I never said that.
>>
>>387413008
First, explain how making all the levels different, offering the same number of different levels, and only charging $20 when the base game is $60 is lazy. Go on, I'm waiting. Even if the assets are the same you are paying for basically another Mario U but with new movement mechanics, why is that amount for $20 lazy in any way?
>>
>>387413093
You did, if you say it is half-new, it means the DLC is worth half as much as the main game. The main game released for 60 USD thus Luigi U is worth 30 USD
>>
>>387413093
How does it? $20 for 3 new adventure maps, new challenges, and some new weapon sets seems like a good deal.
>>
>>387413136
Its lazy because its essentially a "lite" version of NSMBU and the levels are very short. You can tell they didn't really try at all.
>>387413192
first of all they did release the disc version for $30. And its not worth paying for because someone could've just made NSLU in a level editor once Wii U got hacked.
>>
>>387413231
It's made by Nintendo so it's bad
>>
>>387413231
the adventure maps are just grindy repetitive bullshit and you cant even use the new characters on the map because they're so
underleveled.
>>387413270
>It's made by Nintendo so it's good
>>
>>387411201
It's a more difficult NSMB. Considering how allergic new Nintendo games are to the concept of letting their players fail, I was perfectly fine with paying $20 for a 2D Mario that would give me some semblance of challenge. I also got the game used, so I felt Nintendo deserved some of my money directly
>>
>>387413384
>I felt Nintendo deserved some of my money directly
How much of a drone do you have to be to hold this belief? Holy shit
>>
>>387413261
>it's a lite version
And the price reflects that. At 1/3 the cost of the original it is fitting for a lite version
>someone could have made
Yes, mario maker sure shows that someone could have done it.

Actually why did you even pay for Mario in the first place? It's not worth paying for as you can just make the game online. Why pay for any game? You can make any game on a game engine yourself
>>
>>387411201
>Why wasn't there a huge shit storm over this?
Because it was standalone
>>
>>387413448
I didn't buy NSLU, didn't play it until it was able to be pirated.
>You can make any game on a game engine yourself
I'll pay for games but only if its actual new shit, not just a level-edited version of a game I already have. Should've been a free update
>>
>>387413347
>grindy repetitive bullshit
You have played a musou before, yes? You know how much grinding it entails, yes? It's part of why people keep buying those games, because grinding up characters and maps are fun. You not liking a content =/= content is bad
>>
>>387413545
HW DLC doesn't even add new enemies.
>>
>>387411201
It's basically the New Game+/Second Quest of NSMBU with Luigi's physics and the ability to play as Nabbit. I'd say it's worth far more than the Coin Rush packs in NSMB2 since they at least redid every level in the game and considering that NSMBU was $60 at the time. Also:
>doesn't even add new assets
Not true, a number of tilesets did get changed for the DLC such as Acorn Plains have grassy/flowery platforms instead of grass & stone.
>>
>>387413531
You still haven't even explained why $20 is not a good price to pay for a lite version of the game. And you still haven't explained why designing levels using the same level editor negates any effort put into designing them, and thus the developers deserve NOTHING
>>
>>387411201
>doesn't add new levels or anything
Weren't all the levels different though? They kept the same theme but they were wildly different.
>>
>>387413657
>I'd say it's worth far more than the Coin Rush packs in NSMB2
That's really not saying much, no one should buy those either.
>>387413660
>You still haven't even explained why $20 is not a good price to pay for a lite version of the game.
Because you already own the full game, owning a lite version is pointless. It should've been free.
>>
>>387413726
Why? The levels are all redesigned and there was clear work put into them, although less than the original game. It is also quite different from NSMBU based on movement mechanics alone, and the levels are now designed around those mechanics

And also if you think it is pointless just don't buy it? It is still a good choice for newcomers and thus has a justified reason to exist

If you want more of a game you often have to pay for it, plain and simple. For a platformer it is new levels, new level designs. This is what you pay for every time you buy a new platformer game. Why is it so hard for you to grasp?
>>
>>387411201
>Why wasn't there a huge shitstorm over this?
Because no one bought it.
>>
>>387413261
>Its lazy because its essentially a "lite" version of NSMBU and the levels are very short. You can tell they didn't really try at all.
you are an absolute dumbass if you believe a shorter platforming level is inherently inferior to a longer one. NSLU has concise, tightly designed levels that offer a reasonable challenge, something that can't be said about the original game it's based on.
>>
>>387413726
It is not a lite version though
>>
>>387411437
I'd rather buy a Pizza than Nintendo's garbage DLC
>>
>>387412357
>it didn't come out until like 3 years after the DLC
....You mean, just like the Selects do?
>>
>>387411620
>13 million units sold
whoa...
>>
>>387414087
>, something that can't be said about the original game it's based on.
Then they shouldn't have released the original game at all, they should've just made NSLU if its so much better.

>>
>>387411201

The levels are, in fact, brand new levels. Congrats on creating a bait thread where a bunch of retards who didn't play the game can shit talk it for flaws that don't exist. Of course, this is /v/ - Frankly, I don't know what I expected.
>>

>>
>>387414202
13 million is not a bad number, it's actually better than every Sega console ever, except the Genesis, and higher than the Switch atm.

It's just Nintendo are kikes and were hoping for Wii-tier sales, so they canned it. Guess what will happen to the Switch if it fails to sell over 60 million? Exactly.
>>
>>387411201
I would love for DLC to be like New Super Luigi U.
>>
>>387414519
NSLU came out like a few months after the original. They could've easily implemented those ideas in NSMBU.
>>387414537
you're just a Nintendo shiteater
>>
>>387414585
Anon can I ask you a question, like real talk? What do you get out of this? What benefit do you get from shitposting about a decade old game?
>>
>>387413726

Not him, but I don't. I only have NSLU.
>>
>>387414585

>later they were sold together in a bundle
like, I get that dlc is shit in general but NSLU is far from the most egregious example
>>
>>387414513

Also by your logic base Witcher 3 should not have been released
>>
>>387414809
Its not a decade old and I just hate Nintendo fans and their hypocrite beliefs.
>>later they were sold together in a bundle
yeah, 3 years later...
>>
>>387411201
>doesn't add new levels or anything
But this is exactly what they did. And it's the best New Super Mario Bros game because of the god tier level design.

Luigi U is the best for single player because of Nabbit and Mario U is the best for multiplayer because no waggle, decent level design, you can have an extra person on a tablet to fuck with things

>Luigi handles differently than Mario
>Game is more challenging as a result
>It has enough levels and is such a complete package that it's often considered an entire game on its own
>Even received a physical edition for people who like boxes
How is this not one of the best examples of DLC in recent years?
>>
>>387415471
It's an entirely new set of levels the same size as the Super Mario Bros U game. You play an entirely different set of levels in each game. It also costed like a third of the original game. Was entirely optional and separate from the main game. And can be purchased alone if you don't want Mario U.

It's a fucking New Super Mario Bros game, why are you so fixated on the art assets? It's like the last thing anybody is coming to modern mario games for.
>>
>>387415747
>different style design
how?
>it's often considered an entire game on its own
only by Nintendo drones. Regular people don't consider it a standalone game.
>>387415786
>It's an entirely new set of levels the same size as the Super Mario Bros U game.
they are much shorter than the levels in the original game
>>
>>387411201
The New Super Mario Bros IP was a huge disappointment from the second game on.
>>
>>387415897
>how?
The levels are shorter and are usually focused around a singular challenge that must be overcome within tight time constraints.
>>
>>387411527
You aren't thinking hard enough anon because bethesda used to charge $15 for HORSE ARMOR
>>
>>387415897
>they are much shorter than the levels in the original game
You just have a shorter timer and are forcing you to go fast which probably has as much to do with it as any changes in level design.

Even if they are a bit shorter, they're genuinely play better than other New Super Mario Bros levels and are still 1/3rd of the cost of the original game
