It's my headcanon that in Undertale, the true boss fight with Chara is so meta that it's literally, intentionally pic related.

I mean, that's just an extension of a personal policy that I have that, if a game tries to fuck with me by being meta, then I am allowed to fight back on the same level of meta-ness, but I enjoy the idea that it's intentional.

The Capital Wasteland BOS reunited with the Outcasts following Elder and Sarah Lyon's deaths, and then met up with and merged with the Midwest brotherhood, which is where they learned how to repair and maintain an Airship like the Prydwyn.

Maxson is not the one-dimensional fanatical 40k ripoff he seems, he realizes that he has forged a fragile and strained alliance between these three separate factions of the brotherhood, and that if left idle it is only a matter of time until old issues and grievances begin to splinter their loyalties. The entire commonwealth campaign is him hyping up the Synths and Institute, even though they are realistically no threat to the brotherhood and did nothing to provoke them, to create an enemy to unify the brotherhood against and help them establish a collective identity instead of thinking of themselves as Lyons, Outcast, or Midwest. It satisfies all three groups needs - the Lyons supporters feel like they are helping the locals and wastelanders by destroying something akin to the Enclave, the Outcasts feel like they are following the original mission of keeping dangerous advanced tech out of anyone's hands but their own, and the Midwest who've already fought a war against insane robots feel as though they're carrying on the same fight.

A lot of effort to go to to create context for a game with such simplistic writing, but it made a lot more sense to me then 'Hurr durr, androids bad.'

Interesting, but I don't want the Midwest to be tainted by the severe retardation that overtook the rest of the BoS. As of current canon, they're the only faction of it that didn't take the train to dumbass town and turn into space marine lites.
