I find it very hard to believe even Miyamoto would say something like that given that even in NSMB Luigi still has his SMB2 traits that are still used today. They aren't the same and haven't been since 1985.

Fuck Wario games, just make him relevant in the Mario universe. Waluigi and him are only included in the spinoffs because the fans would riot if they weren't included and Waluigi still isn't in Smash despite being in most people's top five. They could have them be villains or rivals really well, especially in any Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi games, even a new spinoff of one of those staring those two being the reluctant good guys would be fun as hell.
