I used to know an "oldfag" as you call them.
He definitely used 4chan before any of you, and he really liked Sonic I think. He played Sonic and Mortal Kombat-type games a lot.

I still have to git gud. Game's a masterpiece.

I know you want the next tortanic so badly, but Sonic mania isn't it. But i'm sure an actually shitty game will come along that justifies a reason to shit on it instead of it being too popular for you to handle.

First Breath of the Wild was "a blunder", now Sonic Mania. So many contrarians around here lately.

There's a few discouraging glitches at least in the switch version, trying to climb the blocks under purple water in the chemical plant zone forced me to work around several collision deaths if I lightly grazed a block the wrong way and I was stuck in the machine until I managed to fly up after the boss battle, but overall it's been pretty great. I was able to drop this game into the hands of my brother and his wife and they found their own way into a few competitive matches in no time, neither having played a switch before but both with prior Sonic experience. For me, it fully recaptures the Genesis magic and I love the nice touch that the opening cinematic elevator completely ignores the existence of any game post Sonic and knuckles; they ride from 1, 2, 3, K, straight to M
