The sad state of the Fable series.

Games weren't even that great. First one is the only half decent one.

Yes. I will always have a soft spot for the series.
It saddens me they didn't continue with the Old Kingdom in Fable 2. The 15th centure clothing didn't click for me at first and I totally skipped Fable 3 for its uninteresting era and bad reviews.

This isn't true. The first game was amazing. The problem is that Peter just always overhyped his games to such ridiculous proportions that it would be impossible for any game regardless of developer to deliver on that sort of hype. Even Fable 2 was good. It was just way too damn easy and it was a huge mistake to have the character never die. The third game was too much of a huge letdown. Now the series is pretty much dead though thanks to Microsofts disgusting mishandling of it.

Nope not really. Kingdom Of Amular was a lot like it but I think that game flopped.

Combat being literally braindead. The "humor". Only saving graces are settings and music.

The combat was fine. It didn't need Dark Souls type of combat. What is more important is the adventure aspects of the game. Which it did very well.
