In order to fix the problem of players running around popping each other and having a "who saw who first" style they included movement speed based accuracy along with extreme spread after a few shots.

But this just makes the gameplay slower without fixing the problem of who saw who first which then makes the game a lot about not being the guy that gets seen first and now map awareness/movement/positioning yomi level shit becomes king where your overall goal is to be the guy who sees other guys first.

The spread issue is even worse as it introduces randomness that can benefit a bad player which makes the game even more about not being seen first as you can't count on an unskilled player not killing you just because they can't aim.

A lot of people enjoy this gameplay, but I personally think it's one of the most retarded formulas ever concocted.

Nah I work as a gameplay designer so I'm always interested in the core setups of games and how they play out, I like to analyze them.

A lot of the most popular games include fatal flaws that can heavily bridge the gap between skill levels or that completely change what the gameplay actually is making it a unique experience. CSGO fits the bill of giving you moments of feeling powerful mixed with lows which is more addicting than pure fun.

It's also why mobas are so popular, massive swings of emotion rather than pure fun. Couple it with loot crates and suddenly you have a game that panders to every single aspect of addiction.

I've played a decent amount of it, to the point where I've learned bullet spray for most of the weapons. The spray follows basically the same "shape" every time with very slight variations. I noticed my own shots becoming far more accurate and I died less once I understood how to properly compensate for the recoil of my various guns.

The spread is in my opinion a requirement due to the power balance of weapon damage to player health, without it the game completely changes at low levels.

At higher levels I feel it matters less as a high skilled player missing a single/double tap is a rarer occurrence while new players miss all the fucking time and spray at each other.

At low levels of play this mechanic absolutely provides a feeling of strength to bad players that can motivate them to keep playing. Two silvers spraying at each other absolutely makes the luckier of the two feel a strong sense of momentary power which can keep them going.

It sort of muddies the water for low skilled play and lets "everyone have a turn" while being less of a factor for skilled players.
