Now that the dust has settled: Was Fable TLC really that good?

Fable 2 was pretty good. I'm not sure how they managed to fuck up Fable 3 by making it arguably the smallest world with the shittiest combat and equipment. I can't really recall but I think 3 had good magic. Fable games are so fucking tiny all things considered though, I really hope they make a new one that's big enough in scope to really realise the mechanics well.

Fable 3 did not have good magic. Fable 3 magic was was "Stand still for 10 seconds then let go of the button".
Also it was extremely overpowered compared to melee(endless blocking enemies) and ranged(enemies DODGING BULLETS).

Fable 4 was going to be a victorian era RPG without the crippling silliness of the franchise, complete with a Jack The Rip-off
TLC was the godlike of RPGs
Fable 2 was decent, too bad it wasn't on PC
Fable 3 is where it went the worst. We were warned by the impending doom of multiplayer-only content when they added collectable toys in Fable 2. We didn't listen. We deserve what we got.

They were working on that 4 player Co-Op in a Fable universe.. then it just got canceled out of nowhere.

I'm not sure why they decided to make it, then just outright cancel it. How hard is it to just make a proper Fable game?

I've never played any fable and I'm considering Fable Anniversary. It is simply a graphical and sound enhancement to the original, right?

It's an "enhancement" alright. The Lost Chapters is cheaper and looks better and runs better. TLC looks ugly but it has a charm to it. Anniversary just looks ugly.

3 was an example of how spending a lot of money and getting Ben Kingsley to do a voice while removing most of the better aspects of the previous games is a bad idea.

Potential was there, but they fucked it up. Completely ruining the whole concept of choice, which is what Fable was supposed to be all about in favor of a more focused story didn't work out well.
