It depends on what deck they're running with and if RNG causes me to draw a bad hand while they draw a good hand. But most of these p2w meme decks are so predictable that you can easily counter them if you know what you're doing.

For example, a guy runs a deck where he tries to summon his high power monsters on the first turn and stalls the match if he doesn't get a lucky draw. As soon as he gets the lucky draw with polymerization, I instantly counter it with Spell Jammer. They obviously try to stall more until they get another polymerization card. Once they finally summon their super powerful monster, I shut them down with Tribute of the Doomed where all I have to do is discard any 1 card from my hand to destroy any 1 monster on the field. After that they either surrender instantly or they get wrecked because they can't fusion summon anymore.

are there any shooters with the same mechanics as Dead Space or ME: Infiltrator?

- Wayward Souls is pretty damn fun, playing that right now. Solid challenge for a mobile, good gameplay variety, no bullshit.

- All the older CAVE shmups are shockingly good on mobile, like shmups should be impossible by touch but CAVE made them work. Obviously controller is still the best, but Espgaluda II, Dodonpachi, Bug Princess etc are all a ton of fun.

- Ghost Trick. Fucking amazing, and a game touch works perfectly for. Even if you played it before go play it again.

- Monster Hunter Freedom Unite mobile port is really really fucking good. And MHFU is still one of my favorite monster hunters ever. This one though you really will want a controller attachment for.

- Galaxy on Fire 2, it's a decent full 3D space game. Unfortunately they went full mobile bullshit after that, but GoF2 still fun.

- Adventure Bar Story might tickle your itch if you want some rpg type shit.

Ghost Trick & MHFU on mobile are both the objectively best versions. At a minimum they both have the best production quality in terms of graphics, audio, and in the case of MHFU multiplayer. For Ghost Trick, touch input is also a better match for its gameplay.

and that's what I argue with. Games like the above or Invisible Inc. or Banner Saga or whatever are all solid vidya and worth playing. It is not always or even often feasible to have access to a "traditional platform". I do not disagree with you one bit that in its current form factor mobile will never provide the kind of vidya the PC or a console can pull off. Full stop. But simple games can be a lot of fun too. A smartphone is a ton of computing and graphics power packed around a fantastic screen, and controller attachments are easily available too. There is no reason it can't do solid vidya or that we shouldn't expect it to. Yeah, normal plebs typically go to gacha. But normies often just use their PCs for facebook games too. Amongst hundreds of millions there should be a sustainable niche for good vidya. The real problem is that it's hard to find good vidya amongst the sea of endless garbage shit.

Particularly with a controller mobile is literally as good or better then any other handheld vidya player in terms of technical capabilities, and in turn there are solid games. I think the shitty state of app markets and lack of ability for someone like Valve or Nintendo or Sony or whomever to make a specific, high-end focused vidya focused software store is the true core problem, but that's no reason to shit on the good vidya that has been made regardless.

Of course, that's what I said. There is more incredible vidya for the PC then I'll ever have time for. But there is incredible vidya on other platforms too, which in turn is available on further platforms (including mobile) via ports, remasters, and emulation. And my desktop PC is the least "available" of my platform options. Even a flatout home console is more "portable" (in terms of sticking it in my checked luggage or something if I wanted to, although I can think of almost zero times I'd ever want to).

Well, they're not always shit. Hell, in the case of Ghost Trick and MHFU they're even worth playing vs those on "traditional platforms". I still like MHFU over a lot of the more recent ones, and I'm fortunate enough to have some bros who like it too, and mobile makes it easy for us all to play the best version of it together on LAN (obviously we've all got controllers). We still organize some PC LAN parties once in a while too, but I don't see anything wrong with using what we've got when work makes time too tight for that. In reality everyone is like this when it comes to mobile games. Sorry to hear that. Right now they're still working on latest iOS just fine, but the original games you mention haven't been updated in a very long time there, so there is no guarantee they'll work forever. In particular I know Apple is phasing out support for a set of super old 32-bit apps, I think with the next phone. Usually it should literally just be a 1-check box recompile, but if a dev isn't touching it at all anymore they'll probably stop working at some point, and then they'd probably be removed from the store there too.

Hopefully CAVE pays some attention to it at that point. If they do a recompile to 64-bit for Android and iOS they'll probably be good basically forever, there isn't another architecture transition even in the pipe, both on x86 and AArch the core seems to be done at this point. They were remasters in the first place so maybe CAVE will go back and give them a bit of a bump, maybe even pull in some higher res assets from console/arcade versions if available.

So those games haven't been updated for years on iOS either? Damn. They might really just be focused entirely on Gothic wa Mahou Otome (pic related) since it seems to be the only thing they care about nowadays. We're all still waiting for more CAVE PC ports too, but so far there's been no news of anything in the future.
