Is there any reason for me to play this for the first time in 2017

I don't think you can now play it for the first time in 2016, or any previous year. Put it off a few months, and you can play this for the first time in 2018 instead.
Nah the current content blows, the story and shit you'd have to slough through as you level (to avoid paying 60 dollars to catch up) is all butchered and disjointed from years of indifference from the devs.
The only part of the game that can even be played at all is the current patch, which sucks.
MMOs are pretty much dead in general

Nope, timegated, rng, bullshit story, reused assets, no creativity left, etc.

You'd be better off spending your time playing just about anything else, WoW in 2006/7 was obviously developed with a lot of love and attention to detail, WoW in 2017 feels like the devs want the players to leave so they don't have to keep developing it and can move onto another project
No let me explain what your experience will be unless you play with friend.
>make character
>complete the first question area without much issue
>over level the zone you were leveling in
>be confused where to go next but eventually work out where to go through the breadcrumb quest
>get a random guild request and accept it
>get to witness either complete silence or normie tier memes
>hit lvl 15
>decide to join a dungeon
>automatically queue and teleport into dungeon
>players in special OP leveling gear will start killing the mobs in the dungeons as quickly as possible while you're still trying to get the dungeon questions
>lose track of where everyone is in the dungeon
>eventually catch up as they carry your ass through the dungeons with you being lucky to even get an attack in
>clear dungeon in 10-15 minutes
>everyone leaves
>nobody has spoken to each other
>with the new gear you have received you now destroy every mob you come across when testing
>find out that you have 50+ more hours of facerolling content without talking to anyone
That is the leveling experience. Or you can buy a lvl 100 and get overwelmed by the abilities and proceed to quit after not knowing wtf to do.

God damn.

This
A big reason why WoW started dying so hard is because Blizzard completely disregarded the leveling portion of the game. It has to be fucking hellish for a new player.
>>387315051
What was this trying to be?
>>387315006
What reason for you not to be playing it until now?
