Prior to playing Berseria I've only played Symphonia which I enjoyed. After playing Berseria, I can safely say I won't be buying another Tales game unless I do extensive research on it. The game is fucking shit, I have no idea how they could go from symphonia to those absolutely horrid "dungeons" and "overworld" (Symphonia dungeons were even that intricate, but the shit in Berseria makes them look like the work of a god)

Never played a Tales game before this one but i can't get into the combat system.
Trying out new combos is next to impossible without a training dummy
Furthermore you pretty much learn at te beginning that spamming buttons randomly gets shit done.

i'm playing through it right now. i love it, but then again, i've never played a tales game i didn't enjoy. the skill and weapon crafting system in berseria is really fun. a million times better than zestiria. and the each-button does-an-arte system is an improvement too. i colour coded my element based artes with the controller's buttons. triangle is wind, circle is fire, etc, etc. game's pretty easy though. do i get more grade for hard mode?

tales is so great. there's so much game in every one. i'm only half way through berseria but i'm already planning on doing another run as soon as i beat it.

As far as /v/ goes, at first the threads just after release were full of Magilou worship and as people progressed through the game Velvet seemed to grow on quite a few Anons.

I know that /v/ hates Tales series. But I really like it. The long story and playtime, Anime style, interesting character( well for me), and the battle system really do it for me. I like it more than FF at least.

I like Velvet's answer the best. The game shows that none of them are an objective answer and defining your own life causes pain to others and yourself because that's just part of being alive. Having an answer is just your compass through life and it's many moments of pain and pleasure, which fit really well into the visual theme of piracy that was all over the game.

Velvet's CLAW is monstrously powerful, intentionally so since she's Velvet Crowe the motherfucking Lord of Calamity.

all the other characters are weaker and their gimmicks are pretty varied. Magilou will goddamn eat spellcasters alive, Eizen is pretty fun to dragon around the battlefield, Rokurou can just pull the *teleports behind u* instead of sidestepping or guarding.
