what is your ideal single player RPG?

Fallout 1 remastered. If Starcraft could get a remaster then Bethesda should take notes from Blizzard and give us a remaster of Fallout 1.

Borderlands but with Orks and multiple paths.

In any case, not a remaster, not a remake.

I really liked Fallout 1's spooky atmosphere and resource management. It was pretty surprising to see such things in an RPG game. Plus I would like to see that game retain its style only remastered just so I can see how improved it could look. Starcraft remaster looks pretty damn sweet and I only watch those games not play them. They have a very similar viewpoint so seeing Starcraft the past couple days made me think this could happen for lots of other RTS or isometric older games out there. In general I just miss sprites as well.

What I liked about Borderlands is for lack of a better way to put it and to make my post brief, it is a mindless shoot and loot FPS RPG game. It is something that is very pick up and play. You also don't have to worry too much about building a shit character like in other RPG games. In most cases class based RPG's are often better balanced imo. Even if they aren't they at least seem as if they are. Any where you got to build your character almost from the ground up you often may feel cheated if you build a shit character. I felt this way too much in TES games. Even in Fallout 2 btw which I had to restart a few hours in. Welp that post ended up being longer than I wanted.

Huge open world with minimal level-scaling fuckery.

Fucking dozens of skills and sub-skills to specialize in. Hundreds of perks/feats/gifts.

Post-apocalyptic, near-future, retro-futuristic or a diesel-punk theme.

A huge weapon pool with everything from pistols, rifles, auto-canons, explosives, melee and laser guns. Modifications, power armored, unique gear and ammo types as well.

An world that functions and looks authentic, but isn't 100% realistic.

First person perspective.

Would never fucking happen, but it is what it is. I love something when there's so much variety it never feels like you'll see the same thing twice.
