i imagine the only fun from this game comes from memorizing levels and executing shit perfectly, but that's only fun if you're a sperg

this game is just frustrating and cancer and not even close to fun to replay which is something you will have to do because the game has a horrible and dated system where you have to replay act 1 if you run out of lives in act 2

i'm just glad they didn't go with classic sonic and have you completely start over when you run out of lives, i would've dropped this garbage right away

I have absolutely no nostalgia for these games. I played my first sonic game last year.
While ok didn't find it anything special but playing sonic mania I'm having fun. It's a great game.

Alright lets talk about real problems.

Did my second run with Knuckles and got all the emeralds by act 1 of Studiopolis. Now once you have all the emeralds anytime you try to glide while you have 50+ he goes super. This is only slightly annoying because I like to save up for 100+ for 1ups but I dealt with it because so level force you to glide and climb namely Mirage Zone act 1.

HOWEVER once I reached act 2 of Lava reef I encountered a spot in which you are forced to glide. Now it is a bottomless pit and once you try to glide you turn super if you have 50+ rings which will cancel your glide and leave you in a free fall state in which you can't start gliding again. This coupled with the fact that the closest checkpoint is far enough away for you to easily build 50+ rings makes this some serious shit.

So really all I'm asking for is that we can get 1 more button to push that will activate transformation.

As far as real problems go I had the music completely stop in Lava Reef 1 for some reason.
Also the boss of Titan Monarch 2 can softlock the game by grabbing Tails with both of his hands leaving Sonic stuck unable to do anything but wait for it to time out

I made a sprite combining what I consider to be the best parts of the Sonic 3 designs and the Sonic Mania designs because I guess that's how I spend my time. I kind of hope for the sprites to go in a more refined direction if Sonic Mania 2 ever happens.

What do you think?

Sonic went to having mediocre bosses to pretty decent bosses with this game the only thing is the bosses are very unconventional. If learning the game has no effect on the boss then the boss is not as fun as it could be. The bosses where sonic is on foot and jumping to hit the boss are the best ones. Puyo is cool and all but i'm no fan really so I could do without that boss and hydrocitybosses play like a fangame (Sonic chaos revolution where the whole gimmick was using eggmans machines with chase sections) boss.

Putting a puzzleboss inside a high speed platformer is actually worse than when they put Fishing in Adventure 1. At least Big was optional. Every time I want to replay Chemical Plant, I have to force myself to play fucking Puyo Puyo.

It's the one time SEGA should have stepped in and told them to stop being fucking retarded. Put that shit in the extras menu where it belongs.

I dunno, it just feels like I am doing something wrong. The timing of when to hit him just doesn't seem consistent. Sometimes when I hit him he gets spikes, and other times he hits the spikes and doesn't get hurt. And other times I just phase through him and hit the spikes instead. Am I just missing something?

I'll at least give them points for variety, but some of the fights were more gimmicky than I would have liked and feel slow paced. I get that they wanted them to be more than just hitting Robotnik eight times but I think they may have tried too hard to be different. I still love the game though and have a lot of fun with it.

Considering how ambiguous the ending of Mania is, and that the potential tie-in factor doesn't even apply until you get the good ending, I'm pretty sure you're being a retard. There's no big "BUY FORCES" banner anywhere in the game, there's no shilling of the OC, there's just a couple of sound effects and an ambiguous portal scene at the end of the game. It's obvious that they WILL tie that in with Forces but you're still full of shit.
