I put something like 130 hours into this game and I'm still not sure if I would recommend it to anyone. By the end I was just grinding for affinity missions and that just took too long to be worth it. The main story was pretty shit, I thought. All the alien races were annoying in their own way.

My advice is to not bother with gem crafting at all until you start to get lvl4 crystals. Or at LEAST lvl 3 ones.

With TP all you really need is enough to sustain overdrive. Everything beyond that is excessive.

With one XX Extend Overdrive and any TP aug/skill respective to your build is usualy more than enough.

To be fair, I can see how that could be useful in the begining. Longsword + Ramjet might be all you need super early, but they get outclassed very quickly as you enter the end game.

Praised be Blosson Dance, because they actualy look cool to use and would otherwise be useless.

Every time you're looking for an NPC, set the clock to either 9am or 9pm and look for them until 12am/pm depending if it's a day-time or night-time NPC.

Since the only way you will have access to tickets, which lets you buy mats instead of grinding them, is to 100% the map. I wouldn't put it on par with korean grindan gaems but it's a fair bit of grinding. To make end game augments you need 32x4 items and the monsters drop one at a time. Two if you're lucky. You'll be making about 20+ different augments if you want to kill all the bosses.

Other than that, finding the stuffed lobsters for the Blood Lobster quest is fucking stupid, but only because they don't all spawn at once, and the trigger for getting the rest to spawn is some esoteric bullshit having to do with completely unrelated quest progress that you could never know unless you looked it up, or you just did everything else possible first.

But let me put it this way: the last boss has about 500k HP at level 50. Some of the strongest enemies in the game have around 10 million, one of them even going as far as 100 million.

You don't need to even come near those beasts, but there are quests that involve killing them. You'll also need to kill some to complete the map (which has no practical aplication).

As I said, completing the story is about 30% of the time you could spend in the game if you go for those kinds of objectives.
If you're in for the story alone you'll be just fine, but to kill those nasty fuckers you'll need some hardcore augment crafting and a post game skell.

I think a few NPCs discuss this. One even says that because the best criminals can hide the fact they're criminal there's some real scumbags that got through the screening process. A lot of these kinds of things are only answered in minor NPC dialogue, like what the landing gel is.

I can't really say that MMO gameplay elements are inherently bad. It's design around them being in MMO games makes them questionable.
I don't play MMO games. I tried. Before and after X. I just can't get any enjoyment from them
