I just want some good maps.
Block Fort was my fucking shit for kart battles, same with the nintendo DS stage
I want it back
The one where you all start with fortresses, archipelago, and team islands are my shit.

>Asymmetrical maps with areas of strengths and weaknesses for every charavter

honestly depends on the game, normally I would say asymmetrical but for a game like splatoon it has to be symmetrical

>>387269652
it's like one of the basic mario kart maps that you can make. still remember playing it all the time at neighbors house.

The TS1 music for Streets was incredibly good. I loved the track's blend of chill and frantic. It's my favorite song in any of the Timesplitters games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VSAc_kghXw
And the Streets was a damn good level, too. I loved all the little crevices and passages and walkways. It was my inspiration when trying to make my own maps (although I'd always fall short).

>>387271675

>>387271438
Because by the time the game came out they literally had zero dollars, the devs had been working for free for months.
It's been out on the Windows store for awhile, but it's been on Steam for mutliple versions of Windows for like a month and a half now. It's a lot of fun, it's faster and has more going on in it than overwatch, better map design, and it's own game mode which is pretty fun.
It's f2pand for sale as a 30 dollar game that gives you all the characters now and in the future, which I enjoy because I hate the f2p grind.
The games gorgeous. Pic related is just the turorial map and it's still got a lot of what's great about the main maps on it both for visuals and just map design.

AoE 2 is purely RTS. You can make really aesthetically pleasing cities in it but it has no benefit and honestly it might even hinder your performance technically, I dont know AoE 2 competitively at all but I do know Starcraft 1 and 2 and other RTS have you build in specific optimal locations when setting up your base and shit.
Basically I just do casual comp stomps and layout my buildings in a way that looks appealing or do the campaign when I play. Multiplayer is just comp stomps with my friends.

de_survivor was not a good map. They only put it in because it was nice looking. the guy that made the map, de_mike i believe, was a professional 3d modeler and wanted to advertise himself more(attention whoring) by purposely seeking out the most popular online game at the time and create a level for it. Quite a few more than Star Craft, and they look like they belong in a medieval town. Plus walls. Also there are ways of reinforcing your economy so that if you run out of a resource on the map, there are additional ways to acquire it. I'll usually do a 2 v 2 with a computer teammate just so that I can run a trade cart route between our bases. I'll build a large enough army to defend my base, and a contingent of very mobile units to protect my ally if both enemies attack him at once, and just enjoy building a comfy town until it's time to smash whatever the enemies built.

Paul's Temple is a great stage when I'm in the mood for it. Great cave offensive as well.

I liked it
warsong gulch was a repetitive tug of war
alterac valley might have been fun in vanilla, but then it got reduced to zerg rushing
I had no fucking idea what eye of the storm tried to do, but it wasn't as good
strand of the ancients wasn't really fun
Arathi basin was the fucking best
Isle of conquest was kino as fuck too tho

I have never felt more ambivalent towards a smash bros stage
On the one hand, you have shitters who pick high mobility characters and just run around the stage all day. ON the other hand, you get the people who will take you to the bottom part and that's the day you learn how to tech.
>>387271143
If you ask me, NPC's problem is more with the huge gap in the center and the Ultimate Chimera effectively forcing you to stick to the edges of the map.
>>387273269
Not at all. The game got three expansion packs in the last three years and regularly goes on sale on Steam for $10 for all of them.

Damn anon, our math teacher back in high school had some medical condition so he wasn't there for a full semester, and we had two computer labs that had coaches that didn't give a fuck teaching word, so we put Halo on all those computers. We had nearly a full server running that map every day with people on. Shit was so much fun, me and the other guy who set it up were the only two people who had played PC games before, so we dominated, but it was still a fucking blast.

>>387274159
hell yes. towards before notch released the indev stuff, someone managed to hack together a zombie server mod. one person would start as a zombie each round and it ended when everyone was a zombie or time ran out. you'd set up little bases with people and watch as everyone slowly turned. There were also some great lava or flood servers, where you would have 5 mins to build then they flooded the map with a water block. That robolox video reminded me of skydive server someone made. Very small but very tall map, took like 10 secs to go from top to bottom. You'd fall past stacks of blocks, into weird little builds people had made. So comfy.

Asymmetrical maps are more interesting. Best way to counteract rushing to key points is map generation. Really miss that feature in modern RTS.
>>387269939

>>387301118
The people who play 2fort (in TF2 at least) just play it as a deathmatch/"friendly" map instead of going for the objective, because the map is horribly designed as a CTF map. Way too chokey, always leads to stalemates unless one team is super incompetent. CTF as a whole has this problem in TF2 but 2fort is the worst example.
>>387302481
As an Engi fan I can't stand playing Engi in CTF. You don't get to DO anything, you have to guard your nest because of Spies and your nest HAS to be at your intel (unless your team has already has multiple Engis but if you have a ton of Engis then that means few players on your team are actually pushing).
Something about Big Team Battle on Sandtrap with shitty internet and all my high school friends in 2007/2008 was just so satisfying man.

Not strictly true.
Placing a Sentry right outside the main spawn so that it can see the courtyard and loft simeltaneously will cover all possible routes to/from the intel, and pick you up a lot of kills too.
>>387269445

On one of the aztec (mayan?) campaign missions, I basically neutered the AI with loads of eagle dudes, and sent an army of villagers to clear-cut the forests so I could build a fuckhueg farming empire.
Sending peons to build lumbermills right next to the treeline and checking back on them a few minutes later to see a forest reduced to a few lone trees is a pleasant feel.
did it ever really get better than Dwango5 Map 1?
