Katawa Shoujo wasn't even the first VN I played, let alone the only one I've played. The problem with other VNs is that the characters are too frequently archetypes. Take Grisaia no Kajitsu for example. The characters are so flat that they're literally just kuudere, loli, onee-san, tsundere, and maid. Katawa Shoujo is one of the few VNs with characters that aren't boring.

I've found that if you post an image of the cover art you're way more likely to see an actual conversation about the game. If you just say Pokemon XD then people will assume you're shitposting ironically and insulting the Pokemon franchise. It's not really taboo to talk about it, we're just too conditioned to assume people are trying to start something whenever they write 'XD' in any context.
