......I actually liked it.
Am I still allowed here?
>>387265525
it suffers horribly from being rushed but it has it's moments. Would have loved if the whole ''set in one city over the course of years'' theme was fully expanded upon but unlike origins which had 6 years or so development this had like 18 months.
>>387265525
It's better than Inquisition, especially with DLCs, so yeah.
>>387265525
I think it's miles better than Inquisition. For all the flaws it had I still remember some of the quests and liked some of the characters.
>>387265525
DA2 and ME2 still have lingering old Bioware quality buried under EAware bullshit.
I bet you could isolate things that were more finished before the takeover than others by organizing sections of the games qualitatively.
No, Fuck off shill
>>387265525
>Am I still allowed here?
No, you have to go back.
Everyone who defends Dark Souls II can join him as well.
>>387265525
it was good
Merrill made it better
Is there any sort of mod that makes the whole experience a bit more satisfying? I'm kind of curious to keep going after I finish the expansion to the first, but I'm also spooked it will be an awful experience.
>>387267704
my nigga
I liked it. It has its moments, but suffers from repetitive environments and a short development time. There are other problems, such as some of the characters being totally fucking annoying. Anders, Sebastian, Fenris, etc. Overall, I enjoyed myself. I wish they had more time. I wonder how much better the experience would have been had they had the time to really flesh out the city and the story. Merrill best girl.
>>387265525
I enjoyed it but I'm not gonna pretend it's anywhere near a good game.
Merrill was a total fucking retard. What qualities make her beat girl beyond fulfilling every virgin's fantasy by being timid and awkward?
>>387267560
Like rings in the stump of a tree. The core's still there, but EA started to envelope everything by the end.
>girls in practical armor
>fur in armor
This is my fetish.
>>387268461
I liked her for subverting the idea that a type of magic has to be pure evil rather than a tool to be used or a controversial idea to be explored.
Outside of Jowan every bloodmage in the first game was a mustache twirling villain, so it was interesting to have a full-time party member exploring dangerous magic without doing it for the sake of being evil.
>>387268461
It's either her or the pirate whore. It's an easy decision.
>>387268261
I found Fenris tolerable if you're playing a Hawke with a similar irrational hateboner for mages.
>>387265525
Everyone likes at least one thing the majority considers sucky, stop being a little bitch.
I liked it, too, interesting setting and good story, playing as a mage means something so choices actually can truly matter, liked it for the characters more than gameplay honestly.
Merrill a best.
>>387268261
Sebastian was probably the least interesting party member, considering that his role had to be cut for DLC, but I think he was fairly reasonable in the ending conflict. Being one of the only people to point out that there's no reason to massacre the mageswhen all they needed was Anders's head on a pike for being the sole mage responsible for the terrorism.
>>387265525
No. Return your your complimentary soda and loli.
>>387265525
We're in a special club you and me OP. Not because I like Dragon Age 2, that shit was fucking horrible, but because I also liked a second game in a series that deviated a bit too far from the core formula and was universally panned.
>>387265525
Absolutely not.
I'll see you in court.
>>387268261
I didn't mind the idea of having flawed extremists in the party, I just wish there more chances to call out characters like Anders and Fenris when they were being blatantly hypocritical.
>>387268261
I think I might replay DA2 just to Rival romance Merril. I Friendship romanced her, and was super disappointed by her ending where she ignored all advice and did the stupidest things possible.
>>387268261
>I wonder how much better the experience would have been had they had the time to really flesh out the city and the story.
This makes me sad to think about. Because I really love the premise of a group of misfits in a more personal fantasy story watching their home go through good times and bad times over the years.
Kirkwall could have been really fun to explore if they had the time to really give it a sense of scale and progression. Like imagine going through the different seasons, or seeing new parts of the alienages being built or torn down.
>>387270408
I like friendship/rivalry as a concept, but I think my problem with rival romancing is it equates disagreeing on certain things with interactions that treat them like utter shit.
And Merril's arc feels kind of awkward to me, considering that a lot of the things regarding the mirror end up going down the same path regardless of whether or not you give her what she needs to repair it. Really feels like they could have branched it more.
>>387270623
All the concept art just makes me wonder what the city could have actually been. Instead, we got a mediocre game that could have been so much more. A shame really.
>>387265525
>the game that was so terrible /v/ had a civil discussion about it
>>387265525
you can stay if you post some hilarious memes.
>>387265525
It was the worst Bioware game before Andromeda, but if that's your taste then whatever.
Can we at least agree that femHawke was best girl and not that psycho moeblob Merrill?
>>387272085But I liked them both.
>>387271679
its not "relevant" anymore, so people won't get any internet points by shitposting about it
the only posters are the ones who want some form of discussion
>>387265525
Do whatever the fuck you want but stop relying on strangers over the internet to compliment or insult your shitty game taste.
If ya liked it and are happy and content with the time and experience you spent on it that's all that matters.
Now don't ever talk to me or my faggot board again.
I think the worst part about DA2 getting panned, was that EA and Bioware seemed to think the only problem was recycling maps, and that the fix would be to make Inquisition painfully big to the point where there's nothing interesting to find in it half of the time.
Smaller maps and personalized hub areas are great when they're handled properly, but now everything has to be bigger and bigger in scale.
>>387272085
Absolutely kill yourself, Merril is best, freaky blood mage elf sex every night, cuddles every day
>>387271679
It wasn't very civil at the time. DA2 was the first real moment that the old biodrones started to doubt that everything they put out would be quality.
>nu-/v/ unironically likes DA2 and ME3
>>387273969
>he's unable to critically think and recognize merit
>>387274049
What merit? I was on /v/ back when this game came out, and the hate for it was well deserved. There are six maps in the entire game and the franchise went from tactical CRPG to hack in slash. Anders was also completely ruined and went from being a guy who just wanted to be left alone in Awakening to a gay terrorist because Hamburger Helper though "a demon made me do it" is good character development. Dragon Age 2 is awful and it ushered in the end of Bioware.
>>387265525
Entertaining story, shit gameplay
I think it's a bad game, but I love it.
i have nothing to play right now and i liked origins.
why is this considered as such a bad game?
is it even worth a try?
keep in mind that i like customization and a lot of skills, also i'm a greatsword amazonian bitch kind of guy.
>>387274339
It does have shit gameplay and shit maps, but it's characters were engaging, the mage choice was interesting, it's setting though improperly realized has a ton of potential and as an idea, the story and setting made it leagues above the shit, edgy home brew D&D universe Dragon Age has to offer. That's what I mean about recognizing merit, it's not an actual 100% shitpile, it's not the sum of its parts but some of those parts are neat. It's the least that can be said for it's shitty development.
>>387274339
For as big as a shit that Anders was in the end of DA2, I'm kind of surprised how many people really cared about what he was like in Awakening.
Like he wasn't terrible, but I still though well-intentioned man turned violent extremist was at least more memorable to me than mage Alistair.
I like it too. Not all characters themselves but the interaction between them. I've been having the urge to replay it but either the combat sucks with damage sponge enemy ambushes or I am terrible at it.
>>387265525
I liked what I played of it, but I got so sick of going through the same fucking dungeons with the same fucking spawn points over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over fucking kill me
It's the only game I ever dropped for anything other than disinterest.
>>387274928
Do you play on nightmare?
>>387272085
I'm very sure DA2 Merril was a literal retard.
>>387268489
>practical armor
>armor with fur
pick one
>>387265525
It was a good game to be honest, at least it didn't have the fucking "transform into a mouse puzzle" shit that DA1 had. DA1 would've been better if it didn't have that shit.
The fights get a bit samey when they're in the same street over and over, and you pretty much always resort to the same tactic of Blood Mage tank, pull the whole room, spam AoEs. Only real complaints.
>>387274679
Well, It feels like they tried to make it more like Mass Effect than Origins, so there's a dialogue wheel now. And the pacing of things definitely suffered due to rushed development, most notably the same handful of maps being reused for sidequests over and over again. Combat's definitely changed as well, with more real-time hacking and slashing thrown in.
So it feels much smaller in scale than Origins in nearly every facet. But there are still some good ideas and decent characters thrown in if you're willing to wade through some of the more repetitive tasks you're given.
>>387265525
Of course. You are the desired target for Bioware games since years.
>>387275250
>Combat's definitely changed as well, with more real-time hacking and slashing thrown in.
It's just faster paced with flashier animation
>>387275250
let's say that i couldn't give a shit about the characters and story.
hows the gameplay, i like hack'n'slash games.
can i be a mean motherfucker, is it fun fighting enemies?
>>387275474
I had fun hopping everywhere with the rogue. Didn't care much for being a warrior.
>>387265525
you're a fucking retard with very bad taste
this game was awful and it was awful in ways I couldn't even imagine
how it went from origins to this garbage is unimaginable
>>387275474
It is not fun, no hyperbole I spent 30 minutes with a twohander build trying to cut down one boss. Full buffs, best weapon available and it was still 30 minutes of pressing one button.
>>387265525
Fuck yeah you are.
/v is a leading safe space for people with shit taste.
>>387265525
Let me guess, you start using 4chan in 2014+
>>387275474
Dual wielding rogue had its moments, but I still put it down to easy mode after a few hours or so just to get through it quicker.

can confirm rogue was good fun, warrior is indeed the worst class. Mage is mage, you cast spells and shit, you know how it works. At least they improved the staff attack animation from DA:O's rocking back and forth
>>387275631Arishok? That fight solo was just the most boring shit imaginable as a rogue or warrior.
>>387275474
Not worth your time, the only redeeming parts of DA2 were some of the character moments.
>>387275474
>hows the gameplay, i like hack'n'slash games.
Bullet sponges. Everywhere, even on easy. Also if you go force mage, you can break one of the bosses ai, and made him do nothing while you beat on him.
>>387275872
Yeah, even on normal mobs it takes way too many hits to kill something with a twohander build.
I just like femHawke
It had it moments but it was still pretty bad. When I really noticed how bad it was when you first arrive in Kirkwall and if you look at some of the random NPCs faces they looked fucking abysmal, or when I realised the cave dungeons were literally all the same map but you would start at a different entrance and block old exits with literal mounds of dirt.
Some of the companions were good, Merrill was cute if I bit of a retard at times (still better then a literal std ridden pirate whore.) But she kind of gets her shit together by the end. Varric was good, Aveline was alright, Bethany was cute but she's your sister and leaves after the first act, Carvers a cunt in act 1 and somewhat better in the dlcs, Fenris was tolerable at times and Anders was fucking shit.
Fuck, I remember the party being much bigger in my head for some reason.
>>387265525
Now that its a few years old, we can judge it fairly instead of just screaming ITS SHIIIIT
Though it definitely did have some big problems and was nowhere near as good as Origins, it was still an okay game. But I feel bad for anyone who dropped 60 dollars on it on release expecting something like Origins.
>>387276391
My only issue with default Female Hawke is she looks kind of fat faced. Like her jaw, its not square but there's a lot of it.
>>387268461
Who else are you going to choose since as always, Bioware made the most likable girl unromancable?
>>387276601
True
>>387276241
I know that feeling. I played on nightmare as a 2h, but absolutely none of that experience was fun.
387276463
There was also the dog whistle and Sebastian (if you had the DLC), which might be why you thought the party was bigger. But the big redeeming moment of Isabella was the fact that you could give her to the Arishok.
>>387275164
>Good game
>Unbalanced as fuck
>Simple combat system that requires little strategy and no variance from the same strategies you used last fight and the fight before that, even on nightmare.
>Very, very, VERY little enemy variety
>Quality issues everywhere
>Reuses the same environments over, and over, and over again.
Yeah, it's a great game if you set aside the fact that it's a pile of shit.
>>387274679
Greatswords are OP in 2, the opposite of the shit that they were in DAO. I think the game has good characters and a decent plot, but everything else falls short of the original. Dont go in expecting anything great, and you might come out pleasantly surprised.
>>387276882
>Greatswords are OP in 2, the opposite of the shit that they were in DAO.
Its like we didn't even play the same games, DAO twohander builds were solid sure they couldn't hit multiple enemies but they had great skills active, passive and buff.
>>387276391
Kek
Honestly though, did anyone leave him alive?
>>387276824
>Literally causes the qunari to try and take the city and the viscount's death.
>Returns only If you have a high enough friendship or rivalry and just go's "lol, sorry, here you go."
Should have let the Arishok take that bitch.
>>387276391
>>387268937
Bethany was the best girl desu
>>387268957
There's nothing irrational about it. Mages in Dragon Age are dickheads. Especially the ones in DA2
>>387265525
No. Get out. Now.
>>387277709
only because the writing is ass
they could've had an actual interesting situation on their hands if they didn't make every mage in 2 go "lol blood magic time I guess" once things got remotely tough
>>387277653
>I'm a mage
>time to fuck off for most of the game
how?
