By now, literally every weapon but gunlance and charge blade. I think as of Gen, HH and Adept LBG (with Full House) are my favorite, but I'm almost unquestionably better off just using GS, LS, Hammer, SA, or IG given I hunt solo or with one other person usually.

Best monster is Nargacuga. It's so fucking fast and fun, Lucent was the coolest shit. Zinogre's high up there too because it has the best positioned head to smash with a HH at all times.

Moga village best village.

Fuck maining I'm gonna make a different weapon type out of each weapon branch I can.

According to the devs, the snout helps it smell enemies, whatever that means, so that helps him. The wings themselves are vestigial and I find them kind of cute and interesting. It's like you can tell that this was a flying wyvern a long long time back and it evolved into a brute wyvern.

They aren't. Those are systems surrounding the base gameplay, which is the action of taking down a monster. Do you really think Capcom started from the crafting systems when they first prototyped the Monster Hunter games? No, they most likely started from the combat.

The act of hunting the Monster is the game, that is the only thing you should largely keep the same, everything else you can change as much as you want to. Everything else is just spice, a hook to keep you playing the game again and again.

I don't think you're right about that. Monster Hunter was always, ALWAYS about hunting monsters, first and foremost.

I also think that they changed the weapon movesets in order to allow for overall more freedom and fluid movement, which goes in line with everything else they've added to the game that we've seen. I don't think there's anything wrong with that and I also think that the mainline team is competent enough to make this change without fucking everything up.

Honestly, if valfark's wings didn't pivot 180 degrees and extend into blades, it would be one of the more tame elder dragons. I guess, but I always considered those to be a crutch so, it's up to you. Make sure you try out playing with guild style for a bit too, so you get the hang of the hammer's basic moveset. Vanilla hammer is still a lot of fun IMO.

The Astalos set seems really good for aerial IG if you have any 3 slotted charm and some gems that offer Vault points.

I only ran lancer once, in MH4U and it was 100% evadelancer, with evasion + 3 and evade distance, and with the steve lance to boot for maximum cheese. It was quite fun, but I feel like that's playing the weapon wrong, and at the same time, using shields was never my style, so I just dropped it and went back to GS after a while.

Should I play MHFU?
