fun fact: monster hunter quest selection actually has icons and color coding making it trivially easy to know what to do on said quest.

on the 3ds games:(might be off but roughly right, going off of memory here) Red means Hunt, Blue Means Capture anything else is a gathering quest or egg quest.

as for the monsters they have unique icons for every single one of them including the shitty little monsters.

once you figure out the basics of where to upgrade items and basic sets you can navigate the main game quite easily without the need to know what a single moonrune means.
