The Ark is obviously the exception, not the rule. The lifeforms on it are free of the sin of the machines and can go somewhere else and go beyond humanity's hatred and desire for conflict. Maybe it will work out for them but it probably won't with 9S on board.

The rest of the machine lifeforms however are pretty much doomed to live in cycles and have their "sin" programming still in them, if anything can come of that though will be interesting.

Honestly it is hit or miss. Each story arc is 2-4 episodes long, and they vary wildly in quality. Some are just fanservice with really stylistic art direction. Some are mindblowing or heartfelt stories. Some are boring and drag on. Others are weird and super experimental. The good thing is that if you don't like a story arc, it only takes 3 or 4 episodes at most for something new.

The girls are consistently hot though, so if you like attractive anime tiddy, then this is a show for you.
