This game desperately needs a reboot. Keep the plot and characters, fine tune the details, and totally dispose of the sequel. A game where a crazy, schizophrenic man with no supernatural powers is still the scariest fucking thing in the middle of a full-blown haunting? Fucking sign me up.

Dr. Killjoy being all Vincent Price meets Jeff Combs. That one executioner who was so addicted to killing that he can't stop sniffing himself as a poison gas cloud. Even that poor, damned guy in the electric chair who wants to repent but can't move past his deeds.

At its best moments, that game rivaled the better Silent Hill games. When you find that gazebo on the lake and the wife is there looking out at the water after insulting you and begging you to be a better person the whole game, and she just sounds tired and bemused. Talking about how handsome you were and how she was in lust with you at first, and never gave a thought to what kind of person you were. And then she says, "All you ever brought me was suffering." It should have been super cheesy, but it really, really worked in the moment.

God, I fucking love that game.
