No, it was mostly the fact that it was a weird D&D edition. 3rd is riddled with really bad game design flaws and was the single source of shitposting for a decade or so online and still is on /tg/ because Pathfinder still exists.

I managed to break through it and beat it, but that was mostly because I was edition savvy. I recommend playing the DOS version, it's infinitely better in every single regard except for descending AC which is indefensible.

seriously. what the fuck? i played eye of the beholder growing up and decided to play actual D&D a few years ago. it was so hard to get used to high AC being good. then i decided to try eye of the beholder for nostalgia and it was even harder getting reused to low AC
