I'm not a massive Halo fan, but 1 and 2 were some great co-op with mates so when I found a copy of ODST super cheap I thought why the fuck not........but holy shit this is all kinds of terrible.

It's a Flawed game with cool ideas

The Mombasa streets sections made the game interesting. The opportunities for stealth and planing you movements in a hostile city is really fucking cool but the mechanics to stealth aren't there. Clue hunting for your missing squad is a neat idea as well but it's only handled as warps to other levels.

I didn't play the beta but it seemed pretty jank, while if Halo Reach was released in the form it was during the beta it would have been fine, if Halo 3 released in its beta state it'd be a completely different discussion.

I think Reach's biggest problem was how long it took for a fun variety of custom games even with all the new tools. Halo 3 had such an amazing stable and every week there'd always be the risky "make this guy party leader so he can put on his game and it turns out to be amazing." Reach in the beginning was pretty barren, you had deathball run and poorly implemented ports of Halo 3 custom games.

The point I lost but I'm trying to make here is that at least anecdotally, I have better memories of those customs games than the actual matchmaking and Halo 3 set that bar impossibly high.

All OST of Anniversary edition is remade, the opening theme song included. Breaking Benjamin would't remaster or allow them to modify or remaster it themselves.
If you use the original graphics, Blow me away still plays, so it's not like they couldn't get the license for the song or anything.
