Honestly if they made it all procedurally generated they could use significantly less assets which would make it much smaller. Obviously the game would be worse, but having a smaller download size is a lot more important than making a good game.

Keep the fucking french/spanish/zimbabwe bullshit audio out of my english version please, why the fuck is that shit there taking up space? Even pirates are gracious enough to do repacks, but paying customers don't get that luxury?

DOOM is about 49GB off the disc, when the updates are finished it takes up about 74GB of the HDD. It's not "Nearly 100GBs"

Besides most people will be opting to buy 2-4TB external drives nowadays anyway and you can get them fairly affordable as well and bam all your storage worries are gone.

Also to clarify I'm not defending huge install/download sizes they ARE dumb but you should take the precautions to deal with them.

I fucking envy you even though I'm pretty patient since I had this internet for 2-3 years.

Usually, my internet speed is at 240-260 kb/s at its highest, but it sometimes goes down to around 10 kb/s which either lasts a few hours or it lasts for days. It usually takes about a minute to fully load a webm.

I'm also 2 miles out of a city where there's wired internet ... I was stuck on satellite before I switched over ...
I'm in a rural area, the tower is 2 miles out. I had to buy a small antenna to get decent signal since without it I only had 1 bar. It was usable but the speeds were unreliable. I have been finally been able to play vidya online, which you can't do on satellite cause of shitty latency. I get like 50-100 latency in games now. :^)
>>387198849
See >>387195453
Or find a satellite provider that simply throttles you after going over the cap like Exede with their "liberty pass" shit. I used Exede before switching to 4G. On Exede I had the 10gb cap which simply throttled me to like 2-8 mbps afterwards. Still had good speeds during the at night during the free hours which I've seen go up as high to 40mbps, which is enough to download vidya quick.

That's insane. I'm definitely going to call them come September. It'd be worth the cancellation fee from HughesNet.
>>
>>387200270
It's not. Do your own research. Some company, I think clear, was bought out by sprint and they have contract obligations to fulfill. One of them is to offer affordable 4g access to hospital, schools, etc to people in rural areas. It's for "non-profits". It's why you sign up for a membership, which is a 1 time fee.

There are other 3rd party "non-profits" that do the same such as https://www.pcsforpeople.com/ (for low income, disabled and elderly). You're willingly getting fucked because you live in a bubble. It's surprising on how many people don't know about this but I can't blame you when all you use is meme sites like plebbit, 4chins, social media, vidya, etc.

Because they have to push the whole non-profit bullshit in order to allow normies to join. It's a loop hole. They also overcharge you for the hotspot they give you and charge you a 1 time membership fee of $35 (they raised it recently). But it pays itself off with the low monthly cost.
>>
>>387183575
What? No it's not.

>>387189528

They did that too me when I was living in Miami. I have 25mb/s service for 60 bucks, and a month in they send me an email stating they're testing a 100gb bandwidth cap per month on our area.

Shit seemed to have been very promptly removed, as 2 weeks later I received another email stating the cap would be removed soon. I hadn't even been paying attention to it either. I even called up and put in a pretty angry complaint about it and how I would cancel my service and move over to ATT ( which I really wouldn't because ATT charges ridiculously more for shitastically fucking less internet compared to Shitcast), and they comped me a month of internet service for the frustration.

Bandwidth caps are the fucking cheapest ass greedy shit ISPs can do. Internet is an infinite renewable resource, and they wanna drip it out to people like it's black diamonds in severe limited quantities.

ISPs are out of fucking control. The Miami area I lived in could only choose from ATT or Comcast, and no other ISPs were allowed to be routed in the area due to the bullshit oligarchy these ISPs have on a lot of areas.
>>
>>387192963

>paying for megabits instead of megabytes

I learned that horseshit the hard way when we paid 90/mo for horrifically slow internet from them. I called up asking why my 25MB/s net was reading out as like, 5MB/s, and these assholes go "It's Megabits, not Megabytes. Would you like to upgrade to the premium gaming speed service?" Had them cancel my shit right there. Paid the contract-break fee and everything and moved over to Comcast, which I paid a similar fee a month for 50MB/s.
