A party of 8 was also possible in Wizardry 8, and that game has the best autism combat of any game ever. Also, while Grimoire combat is not as good as Wizardy 8, you can hold down the enter key and zip through easy fights in like a second. The big focus of the game is adventuring through maps and solving puzzles, though. Combat is pretty unbalanced and gets pushed to the side.
>>
>>387172237
Nah, this game is amazing.

You know what I want? Legend of grimrock with no party, balanced around a single character. Are there mods that do this?

well i haven't been around for the past two weeks because it's a pretty busy time on the farm.

>>
>>387187761
The difference being, BotW is designed so that players can fight Ganon as soon as you get the paraglider and some weapons while Grimwah was a game billed as being "600+ hours long" for a single playthrough.

What's even funnier, BotW actually has hundreds of hours of playtime if you 100% the game while Grimwah ended up being shorter than your average JRPG.
>>
>>387188040
>so is the game good?
No, shills will tell you otherwise but between the bugs, the fact that stats don't work, the fact that prestige classes don't work, the fact that the game is hilariously imbalanced, and the fact that Cleve's planning on adding DRM, you're honestly better off either pirating the game or waiting until after Cleve's 100% done with patching the game up.

Can't hurt to try it, but I'd recommend Might and Magic 3-5 and Lands of Lore first. They are much easier. Wizardry doesn't fuck around.
>Any mods or tweaks I need?
I think there might be an automapper for it, which is more of a quality of life thing than a necessity. You get mapping in the game, but it's annoying to actually have to go through a menu to check it.

Okay, grimwah isn't the only RPG to have large dungeons. Also, large dungeons can easily be a detriment if the gameplay isn't built to make it seem shorter than it actually is.

No.

>Okay, grimwah isn't the only RPG to have large dungeons.
Yes, Grimoire is literally the only game that has dungeons this large that have intricate puzzles that tie multiple areas together and secrets in such abundance. There is no other crawler that comes even remotely close to the map/level design in this game. It has plenty of failings, but in this one area it is completely unmatched. If you can think of a game that does it better, for the love of God please go ahead and post it.
>Also, large dungeons can easily be a detriment if the gameplay isn't built to make it seem shorter than it actually is.
what
>>
>>387189815
>How do they differ?
The whole gimmick of Might and Magic is sanic speed combat and a huge open world, also has word puzzles and a really quirky aesthetic. Lands of Lore is basically a more story/character driven Grimrock, made by Westwood so you know it's high quality stuff.
>Also, does Wiz7 have bullshit like important items looking like ordinary crap and/or being easily missable?
Unless you are willing to spend a very, very long time playing the game, you might want to use a guide.
>What about Wiz8?
Lot of bad things about it, lot of good things about. Definitely my favorite combat of any blobber, but play Wiz7 first.
>>
>>387190318
Does any one of these have more or less the same mix of story/quests/crawling/exploration as Grimoire? I'm asking because I found the ratio between those facets enjoyable in Grimoire and pretty meh in Grimrock.
>>
>>387190750
Both MM and LoL have a lot of character. Just try them. For MM I'd say start with Xeen since the beginning area in 3 is a bit of a clusterfuck for beginners. There is a pastebin on the Might and Magic general on /vr/ with every game in it and they will be more than willing to help you out if you get stuck in any of the games. LoL is on GoG and also abandonware, shouldn't be hard to find in one form or another.

Strange Journey? No, it doesn't. Unless you count its occasionally maze-like design as a puzzle, in which case it still doesn't. I mean SMT is cool and all, and I like the games, but nah. I don't think we are even on the same page here.

>>387193342
GOLD was made for Windows, but it fucked up everything. You can't change the screen size, the graphics are worse and the Diplomacy skill was completely broken. The only thing it had going for it was that it opened the map in a separate window, and there's an automap mod for the DOS version that does that for you.

If you buy it on steam or gog, you should get both versions anyway. I know I had to move my save over to GOLD to get past a bugged puzzle and then moved back.

If you are really interested, play 6 first. Not only is 6 a lot of fun, but importing a party into 7 makes the beginning a lot easier. The same automap mod for 7 works for 6 if you don't want to do it by hand.
>>
>>387194013
It's not like the playerbase is huge. After the initial hype died down, threads were averaging 60 unique posters. It's clearly intended for a niche audience.

The only ones who will tell you otherwise are the same Codexian shills who will praise the rainbows that come out of Cleve's ass. The fact that there are people dumb enough to believe that pirated versions were all loaded with keyloggers just because of 1 to 3 posters astounds me. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Cleve hired people to "advertise" his game on 4chan, since it's probably the next closest thing to a targeted demographic there will be. And I say all this as someone who mostly enjoys the game, faults and all.
