Hiring has almost NOTHING to do with how qualified you are to do a job.

As long as you have the basic knowledge required for the job (ie, you know how to code for programming or engineering jobs) anyone can do any job. And in truth, in that line of work it isn't hard to get a job. But do you know how many white/Asian dudes there are who do this kind of work? Tons. Thousands. And they're all the same.

Now, if you made me the CEO of a company and said "Your product sells really well to group A, but groups B, C, and D aren't buying it," why the fuck wouldn't I bring in people who can sell shit to those other groups? If 100 people from each of those groups buys it, and 100 less from the first group do, I'm still up.

So it makes sense economically, and you don't even have to do anything different. You make a solid PR move and you bring in people who are going to push more copies of your product. So, why not?

As someone regularly doing job interviews I can assure you this never happens.

It's more like

The one golden employee that is highly competent and also a good team worker is something like a rare drop in an MMORPG.

You can't go ahead and hire on quota if you want good people. It's hard enough to find competent people already.

And the ones that are competent and make good team players are just more often white dudes. People must be able to open up to each other in order to work properly as a team. And that's MUCH easier in a homogenous group.

Opportunity in job market is limited. That is how economics work. Favoring a specific demographic will cause damage in the long term and create very unfavorable situation, undermining the competition and health of the job market.
