I asked an inane question, because I wanted to know an inane bit of information. That's 'tism for ya.
But the phone screen goes to sleep after a certain period of inactivity, on my phone the "normal options" allow up to 30 minutes, but if you have a game running, usually the phone doesn't consider that inactivity.

To be fair, it also depends on what your phone is running. My old OnePlus One running cyanogenmod allowed you to completely disable auto sleep but the OnePlus 3t running Oxygen only allows up to 30 mins before sleeping. I'm assuming that 30mins in general is the default that android allows normally without the customization that various forks changing it though.

The developer option literally makes it never sleep when it's charging. He meant the 'screen timeout' option, which goes up to 30 minutes on default Android.
