Loving it so far however I think having difficulty levels was the wrong move, just bake the difficulty into the game with the chip system you already have then no one would be complaining about Normal being too easy or Hard being too difficult.

A solid 7/10 that's fun, and better than the first game in some ways while being worse than the first game in others.

The game totally has problems, leveling should be removed entirely, side content should have been in the game, route C being lit as fuck but underwritten. But was the most passionate game I'd played in years.

8/10 About as good as the first. Taro totally delivered on his end but I felt Platinum phoned it in.

Disappointing. Everything this game tries the first one did better, except gameplay of course.

i'm about halfway into my second playthrough (right when i'm about to go into the underground alium complex and i cannot imagine myself continuing. this immediate replaying isn't fun for me at all. and knowing i have to do it a third time after that. no way. i think i'm just about done. maybe i'll come back to it months later but i seriously doubt it.

The soundtrack for Automata was done by Obake, Hoashi, Takahashi and Ishihama. Okabe worked on 24 of the tracks, some were co composed with other members.

It was fine, good characters good plot and good gameplay, nothing amazing but still good.

Mediocre. Story's great, actual gameplay's probably the worst Platinum game besides Korra, really disappointed in the team. Hate how you can literally never die because by Part 2 you've got 99 M Health Ups in your inventory plus a chipset that allows you to refill health, multiple weapon types but only like three combos for each, all the features from past Platinum games that gave them polish for the past five years(zandatsu healing, ninja running which should be possible because we're playing androids) just missing, side quests that have great stories but are 99% fetch quests.

Nier Automata feels like in an alternate universe it would be the very first game Platinum made after Clover was shut down that people sort of enjoyed, but then they found out what they were actually good at and stuck to it

It's one of my favorite games the past 3 years.
It's also my GOTY contender - haven't played Persona 5.

I feel like it advances storytelling within the medium a good bit, although maybe I also see it getting *too* much praise. Gameplay-wise it's still weaker than most other Platinum titles.

I don't think it was a bad game but I didn't really enjoy it. I think its entirely my fault based on what my perception of the game was going to be before I played it, but I loved Nier to death, the most attached I've ever been to a cast of characters in a game. I didn't feel the same from Automata, I honestly could care less about any of the main cast, the only character who I cared for was Pascal, and to me even if the story is presented well if I don't care about the characters it doesn't really mean anything to me. I appreciated the story and how it was presented, but it didn't make me feel anything which is probably the most disappointing aspect to me. Only thing that resonated with me emotionally was any callbacks to Nier.

I also found the combat extremely tedious. Combat was the main improvement I was looking forward to, and honestly I don't think it's an improvement. It might be a stupid statement, because the movement in the game is most certainly better, but fighting things was a chore to me. The bosses were boring, not to say that Nier's were incredible but some of them were cool. Again I don't think Automata is a terrible game, it was just very disappointing to me.

9S' ark is among the best things Taro ever wrote, i think in terms of being a wild ride it rivals if not surpasses even DoD1.

Dissapointment of the year. I loved the original nier so my hype levels were through the roof and it just didnt live up to it. The characters especially were bland as hell compared to papa nier, weiss and kaine.
The writing felt bland and predictable too but that could just be because I personally had gotten more familiar with taros work and style of writing.

Personally enjoyed Platinum's Vanquish a lot more and replaying the PC port recently made me realize the game is timeless. I liked it, but the characters and story didn't quite top the original's for me and while the melee combat was vastly improved I feel the pod system is weaker than Nier's magic system. It definitely handled the paths better though by having be actually different instead of just adding new dialogue to the same events. Overall I certainly don't regret dropping $60 on it but it's not replacing Nier on my 3x3 anytime soon.

Started off pretty interesting, music is superb. I love 2B's japanese VA.
Combat got eventually stale and story in route A wasn't particularly impressive. I'm doing 9S's route now but making me go through the same things again is kinda annoying, i'm also avoiding combat now because it's boring.
At this rate it might drop to 5/10 for me if route C doesn't at least try to be a little fucking interesting
