Just imagine booting up the game to the cutscene at 3:20, as though the game had introductory cutscenes at bonfires like picking characters in GTAV. Seeing all the characters sitting by the fire and have them automatically dialogue with each other about world-building, their quests, gossiping over other NPCs, wishing you a safe journey when you walk away, etc. I think it would have really made the concept of adventuring that much more isolated when there's a bonfire of NPCs that you don't want to leave alone. Maybe you could have started quests from Firelink, like you actually go into the catacombs with the clerics and have to protect them along the way.

Ciaran was the leader of the lord's blades, who were Gwyn's assassins who hunted down anyone who was about occult shit or threatened the gods, they were basically forerunners of both the blades of the darkmoon and the painting guardians, who are probably the same order just many years later.

-The first director didn't know what he was doing

-the game was originally more open world, Bamco said "no, make it more like Dark Souls 1" so they had to start over

-the game was developed primarily for PC due to the DaS PC port's popularity, and to avoid PC porting issues again

-consoles couldn't handle the game when they tried porting it over, and they basically had to start over AGAIN, remaking all of the assets and downgrading everything

-all this within a standard videogame development schedule, with very little if any extra time, meaning they hit crunch time and had to scrap tons of content and re-arrange what they had ready in a presentable, at least somewhat sensible way

-the team that worked on DS1 collectively moved over to BB after DS1's DLC was finished, which was the moment B Team memed themselves into existence

-DaS2 is full of small King's Field nods that really make it feel like less of a DaS1 sequel and more like a King's Field sequel.

-Tanimura told us what the point was in the design works interview. That being that they had to scrap their plans for the original map and slot locations that were already finished into a much smaller one regardless of where they were supposed to be originally.

-Instead of Black Gulch there was a sequence of areas you had to traverse that included colapsed, upside down buildings, huge broken down statues of Nashandra, a cave with a dragon skeleton impaled on stalagmites and more.

What about Hexes, then? Are those any good?

I did a Sorcery run of 2 where I wanted to use them, but never got around to it because I never levelled up my Faith enough to use the better spells. At that point I was just stuck using Soul Arrows, but it wasn't too bad.

I was interested in Miracles so I could do crazy buffs and stomp bosses, but I'm not sure if they even stack in 2. Or any game, for that matter.

Pretty sure that was just ENB's supposition, which I think falls a little flat. They always make it so you can go backwards through an area anyway, even if you can't take the exact route there's still always a shortcut back. Which is the only compromise they have to make with an interconnected world - but they do it regardless. So I don't know what he was on about.
