the problem with Melia is that she is held back until after Mechonis Core. After that she outdamages Shulk easily because she finally gains access to her higher tier shit. Even Shulk with 100% crit in NG+ can't keep up with her

She was in my party the whole game, I pretty much ran Girl Squad + Tatsu the whole story, only disappointed she never spoke during story cutscenes, I'm sure they could've made up a couple different generic interjections for different members to say during cutscenes rather than just standing & staring blankly. Also she & Doug were cute together & I wish they interacted more.

Sharla is situationally good. Most fights, even against bosses you won't take enough damage to need more than what Riki and Shulk can provide so Sharla isn't great because she's mediocre at dealing damage and is terrible at chain attacking.

She's super helpful during the occasions where enemies have actually threatening debuffs or DoT arts. She also makes things with spike damage slightly less of a pain before you get the tools to reasonably deal with it. Most of the time though you're better off with a party of Reyn + any combination of party members other than Sharla or AI controlled Shulk/Melia.

Orlandu is just a living cheat code. If you count him out, Meliadoul pretty much trounces Agrias because of how many human enemies with dangerous equipment exist. Beowulf beats her ass though. Agrias is also best girl so in conclusion I agree that the temple slut Meliadoul can go suck apanda dicks.

Dunban isn't that great at actually keeping aggro though, and gets rekt by ether damage or just getting unlucky. He won't dodge everything unless you're stupidly overleveled.

Reyn is way better as a tank since he has more ways to keep aggro even in situations where he can't deal a lot of damage. Reyn also can take ether attacks and doesn't rely on RNG to tank physical attacks.

Shulk/Reyn/Sharla isn't bad but its an easy approach for people who don't know how to set up their party right, I'd argue with proper gear Dunban allows you to be fairly underleveled and running Reyn requires you to grind a bit, since not getting hit at all>having to heal off damage

Also Dunban has excellent skills for taking aggro, he has his his own version of Rage (Peerless) and Blinding Blossom literally just gives him aggro automatically without having to build it

You have dunban listed twice and AI Shulk is just as bad as AI Melia. Here's Mine.

God Tier:
Player Shulk - The Monado is the best weapon in the game, and Monado arts are the best talent arts in the game. Shulk OP.

Good Tier:
Reyn - Reyn is this high because availability, good burst damage, good chain attacks, and being the best at tanking. He's literally always useful when he's around.

Player Melia - Insane ether DPS once she actually gets her arts. She'd be higher if she got her better arts sooner.

Seven - best auto attacker

Decent Tier:
Dunban - Dunban is good, just not quite as good at either damage or tanking as the people above him.

Riki - Riki does a little bit of everything, but not as well as the people above him. He does work particularly well with Reyn and Melia though thanks to his heal.

Situational Tier:
Sharla - Sometimes you just really need the healing she provides, or sometimes you need Cure Round to not die to DoT effects. Usually her healing isn't needed, but when it is, it's useful.

Shit Tier:
AI Shulk and AI Melia - The AI is fucking awful at playing these two, and completely wastes their excellent talent arts. Shulk and Melia should not be in the party if not controlled by the player.

Blue magic is one of those things that's either going to be so good it's mandatory, or just not worth using at all because by design it competes with every single other character's toolkit.

Also most of FFX's combat is a pretty simple hard counter system (wakka kills fliers, auron/kimahri pierces armor, etc) so the biggest issue is that Kimahri was given a specific utility that isn't used at all until Auron shows up who then completely eradicates any need for Kimahri to do it.

Slit edge makes the entire party do 50% more physical damage to whatever you use it on, and later on you get Monado Armor, which makes the enire party pretty much invincible with its 75% damage reduction to everything that isn't a talent art, which you can completely negate with shield. You build up to Armor or Shield with shulks auto attacks, which hit for a ridiculous 14 to 18 times your level in damage with the Monado II. Towards the end of the game if you got Shulk's 5th skill tree you can get a skill that fully fills his talent gauge with every vision, which is exactly as broken as it sounds.
