Only a couple of factions were fun and no global conquest (even if only minor settlements were allowed there) made campaigns less "free" since it was pretty much worthless to get into wars with factions other than your own (and the AI didn't really gave a shit and declared war on you for the sake of it).

Sieges were fucking garbage too to the point I just autoresolved them.

Total War games are shit and now with Total Warhammer they are also a con. Well done.

I major plot pointment in canon lore is the lizardmen vs. Clan pestalins in lustria, as well as clan pestalins causing a near genocidal civil war when they brought back gifts of plague. Skaven have ships, all ships have rats anyway, and there are less deep areas of ocean to allow underways. Skaven can and have gotten there

Those quests are kind of a joke tho.
It's like: Do 4 little tasks, like move a lord to X, or conquer this settlement or use a hero to do stuff about that one settlement), then there's a pretty fun story battle. After that, it's quest complete. There's like 2 quests on average per Lord.
Except for Norsca, their quests are fun, and to some extent Bretonnia.
If you enjoy the battles tho TWW has the best in the total war series.
