RS3 is dogshit due to cash shop and way too ez. OSRS is pretty fun and chill but the community that was back in 2003-2008 is long gone. Its because people found out about ticks that you can do to do certain things faster. For example you can tick eat at Jad with 10 hp. Just apply poison and wait. Eat at 1hp right before the attack registers.

As someone who has played XIV since it came out,
FFXIV is casual trash with as much depth as a kiddie pool. Gear is completely reset every 6 months and even though they do that the devs refuse to make any items that aren't bland thoughtless shit. People sperg out over substats and act like hot shit because of their build even though going with every "wrong" piece of gear will result in minuscule losses. Most of the """community""" couldn't clear a raid if their mother's life depended on it, so their stats don't really matter at all.

Half of their content is dead on arrival because of tomestones, which are figuratively handed out to everyone who can breathe and pay a subscription. Jobs and gearing them are kind of fun, but there's only 4 fights at any given time that actually challenge you in any way, so there's pretty much no reason to play anything except what you clear the raid on.

XIV also attracts the absolute scum of the earth (this includes me). If my raid group broke apart I would immediately quit and probably never look back. The only reason I'm playing now after the disaster that was HW is that there's literally nothing else on the market worth looking twice at.

If you have the playerbase, ultima online, but I despise many of the systems in that game

everquest through the serpent spine or secrets of faydwer is good, then it sucks till underfoot, and coasts through the rest of the expansions. Its the mmo I played for over a year of my life, and have very little regrets in doing so.

tera online, or black desert online for combat system, though I honest yo god fucking hate everything about black desert as it has so much potential but they squandered it.

Fucking hell, the combat system was so good, especially in PvP.
It didn't have the actual depth of a fighting game, but being able to get a leg up on people by paying attention to the frames of recovery on skills, spacing to bait out CC, i-framing/blocking attacks, and pulling off CC combos to 100-0 someone because they blew their escapes early felt fucking fantastic.
I just couldn't keep dealing with their RNG gearing bullshit.
tfw I'll never again know the satisfaction of having Fireblast backcrit and watching someone disappear in a nuclear blast
