the biggest problem with card video games these days is that they're all designed to be played on phones while only half paying attention. you can only play a few cards at a time because of tiny phone screens. cards can only have one non-random target because everything has to be click and drag. you can't do anything during your opponent's turn because that would require both players to focus on the game.

That's because you're bad. First of all, nobody is going to have more usable cards than anyone else if all you do is trading 1 for 1 someone's doing a trade where they don't lose anything or they're doing something more.

Second, card advantage is how you win in nearly every TCG.

Third, even when you're behind in card advantage, if you're smart at deckbuilding and playing, you'll have ways to offer attrition and turn the game back in your favour. Unless you're running an aggro deck, but those are always losses if they take too long to win, which is kind of the whole thing around aggro.

Maybe because Torch and Permafrost are straight up the most efficient removal in the whole game, which is always something important to have. 1 mana is a huge deal. The only issue here is colour imbalance. Maybe the new Slay will help shake things up a bit, but I doubt it because it's 3 fucking mana and it's not even instant.

I actually really enjoy games where the cards aren't the sole focus - they're a power up to be played from your hand (possibly after being drawn randomly).

I really enjoyed the idea behind "Hand of Fate," but it resulted in a really mediocre game that lacked cohesion. A story with a centralized, narrative plot that allowed you a level up system independent of the cards would be fantastic. Maybe points for inherent abilities/magic and cards for weapons/armor/artifacts that could take a set amount of damage or uses.

As stupid as it was, the Battleship FPS that gave you a card system to call in support from your battleships was a great concept that needs to be furthered upon.

A mod jam where participants all choose a single character, make her play a little differently from the others, and edit the dialogue of 19 other character to respond to that change (the rest of the characters are disabled for this build of the game.)

So for example, they change Weiss so that instead of masturbating when she loses, She has a gimp mask secured onto her and the remaining playing characters talk about whoever wins the game gets to keep her.

The fun part is, you don't mention which character has been altered, so players have to find them on their own (which is also why it's better to not have more than 20 characters in any mod build).

Its like those dumb handheld poker game things you can get, some kind of pseudopoker.

Hex is the perfect TCG. You can trade almost every card (some rares from the starter deck you can't to not screw the market). You can play everything for free, if you are good can earn packs from the tournaments and keep playing forever, if you run out of money you can grind on PVE with a campain like Master of Magic, or on a Arena like an arcade mode.

Of course if someone put more money than you, you are screwd, but all TCGs are like that, at least HEX still is a true F2P.

I wish the game had more players, I still can play in the night, but there isn't many more people hyped about the game...

I had such high hopes for this flaming pile of fucking dog shit. One of the biggest problems for TCG's is the RNG. It has to be there, it's a core mechanic of the genre, but 30-40% of MTG games were decided by shit land draw and that is not a fun way to lose OR win. Hearthstone comes without that by design, and the majority of the RNG comes compartmentalized in cards that specifically have RNG effects like Mad Bomber, and in the inherent RNG you would expect from card draw in general. The game comes out and it's great.

Things start getting rocky when they nerf Novice Engineer. Not a good card, not a bad card, but it was certainly used a lot. Blizzard goes straight to the kneejerk conclusion that a 1/2 minion with cycle for 2 is overused because it's overpowered, not because there aren't very many other good 2 drops at this point in the game. Everyone just switches to Loot Hoarder and forgets about it.

Mind Control gets nerfed because people complain about it. Never mind the fact that priest had a lower than average win rate than other classes, the vocal masses complained about it so in comes the nerf hammer. The vocal masses are also made up largely of players who are too stupid to play around a card the priest is all but guaranteed to have in hand on turn 10.

Kisekae is ugly as sin and I don't know how any of you can actually enjoy it.

I had an idea for a card game.

The theme of the game is a group of players have characters that are positioned right before facing the final boss of their adventure. But before you all can face the boss, you have to build your characters. So the card game involves stepping back to the start of the story, and developing your characters, their adventure up to that point, and as well as fleshing out their enemy. There would be different decks that possess different character, story and enemy traits, like, you draw an Event card and it might tell you that your hero defeated a legendary demon sent by the final boss, and because of it they gain an ancient demon sword, and that sword is then added to your character's armory, or it might be a Character card that reveals your character is actually a father and you have a family to protect back home, thus adding that info to your characters history. Or it could be a card focusing on the enemy, like, you draw a card and it says the final boss is located in an ancient sunken city, thus setting the stage for the final fight, but you may then end up drawing cards that lay out the cities defenses, or traps the boss will have access to during the final fight, or you may draw a card that will build the final boss, like making them a demon, or a human, giving them weapons and history which makes them stronger, a variety of things that would build the danger you all will eventually face.

It could easily be a card game that can be altered to fit different genres too, like sci-fi, non-fiction, whatever you'd like.

Runescape Chronicle was radical and I wish someone would make a version that isn't dead.
You take your cards and set them out on the road before you. Killing monsters drains your own life but rewards you with money or upgrades, money can be spent on equipment or recovery, and some cards affect the enemy's side of the board. Like he might plan on killing a high level monster and you can fuck with it by giving it more HP or reducing his attack.
Each map you draw 3 new cards and there are up to 4 maps you fight across. If neither player dies to monsters or enemy ganks when they reach the end of the last map you just fight to the death. Each class had different specialties like a slayer who powered up from killing tons of monsters or a thief who could steal/create a bunch of money to buy the most powerful equipment.

I want something like spnati, but higher quality.
I'd pay like $5 for it.

I think what's holding back card games is the technology. Imagine some e-ink cards that have animated effects on them and could display different images based on orientation or little scanners and chips on each card where, say, laying one on top of another with a corresponding value turns them into a fusion monster without having to have an extra deck.

The future of card games are going to be great.

Aside from just the huge loads I've spent all morning, the way they talk to each other is impressive sometimes.

Card games were fun because you had to go out to events to play with other people. You got to talk and interact with them which is a lot more fun IRL than it is online.

There were usually other people at those places like tabletop game players, pen and pencil RPG players or just people playing other card games. Sometimes you'd join one of those groups and try their game and sometimes the fat girl gamer would let you grope her fat tits in the restroom.
