I mean I love Wrath but aside from the class balance and raids it's pretty overrated. Ulduar carry's it, hard.
TBC and late vanilla is something I want to go back to.

people just need to stop posting about this outdated trash. Sure it was a fresh meme for a few years after it came out but MMOs are largely garbage these days. The biggest new market is mobile & casual gaming.
Clash of Clans makes more money than Blizzard.
It's time for nostalgia shivers my friends.

I can't believe this came out almost 10 years ago.
WoW was such a huge time waste for me but I still love it. I started late in Vanilla and got to enjoy a few months of it before TBC hit, which was also incredibly fun.
Playing on Elysium when it opened a few months back was a great trip as well. Got to level 50 and kind of lost interest but it was still fun for a while.
>>387114896
>you will never go back
>Started because my cousin showed me the video of his guild getting a realm first Ragnaros kill
>Was fucking shit at it
>Had so much fun
>Mostly just walked in random directions exploring things
God, I think WoW is why I like aimless exploration games so much now. Shame most of them are kinda ass.
I've played since Vanilla, although about halfway through Cataclysm I started taking long breaks and playing just the start and end of expansions. Wrath feels special to me because it's what Warcraft was building up to and it delivered on most levels. Legion could have been great but they took good ideas and ruined then with all the RNG, time gating beyond raid drops, and scaling.
>>387115820
is that swg?
Well anon, how good were you at beating the dragon roar race?
>first addon I got for WOTLK was a sound pack for silent login screen

I can't believe I didn't get the chance to play it. by all accounts it was something sepcial
anyone play this? I never was able to pay for a subscription but when it became f2p i hopped on that shit so fast.
>ywn talk to your guildmates again

have you tried The Long Dark? Its not true exploration really but if you play on easy mode it can be super comfy
>>387114896
>always frantically trying to log in before the earsplitting roar
good times
>>387114896
>you will never again frantically enter your password quickly to avoid the roar.
I remember playing it casually.
I always thought raiding was a big deal that there was a lot of high level content but i never managed to reach it.
Until i installed a single player server later and realized how barebones on content WoW truly is. It's feels huge because of the ridiculously small droprates. All you do is grind dungeons every single week.
>creates game entirely based around developer-created content
>content can be ran through years faster than it can be created
>people play for a month and say "see you in three years" between expansion packs
>believing this is sustainable
Good. You themepark faggots killed the sandbox MMO genre for a decade, if not more. We'll see.
>>387117364
They probably did not expect that some people won't give a shit about anything that's not levelcap content and purple gear.
It's not really marketed towards nolife nerds who play 24/7
>>387116224
I sure did. I also liked their f2p model. If you did all the quests you had just enough to buy Mines of Moria expansion.

Man, I really hope Camelot Unchained does not suck major balls.
I loved DAoC up to the last expansion and live just sucks now.

Crowfall is actually shaping up pretty well. Legends of Aria is great.Star Citizenmight be fun and I'm looking forward to Chronicles of Elyria
>>387118649
Crowfall is on my radar as well, but I do remember the "DAoC Slayer" Shadowfall that got nowhere, but at this rate I'm willing to give it a try.

Cool, played Wow from launch and dropped after Burning Crusade.
Went back to lineage 2 a few months ago. I wanted to play some of the older chronicles but couldn't
Exp rate was x8 so the low levels were a breeze, which was disappointing since I really like experiencing things slowly
Moved into giran and tried to look everywhere for a chill clan so I could meet new people and just share stuff and have a good time, but everyone was recruiting for fucking min/max everything and wanted specific subclasses with a shitton of experience. The server was relatively new too (at least the new version of it)
Times have really changed. Seeing how methodical everything got and how people didn't give a fuck about the social experience made me feel legit bad
>>387120758
Star wars galaxies got destroyed because "we want the wow audience"
and WoW's popularity had nothing to do with the type of game it was and everything to do with the fact that WARCRAFT was in the name.

Not the same for a few reason.
While it's SWG at its core. its future is no longer a mystery. SWG had a lot of potential, it offered a load to do assuming the players were imaginative and there was a lot of excitement and mystery concerning its future. SWGEmu has no future, it ends at JTL and never gains anything more.
>>387120947
WOW made the "WARCRAFT" name. Warcraft 2 lore was minimal, nothing worth creating a fan base over and Warcraft 3 reached max popularity when DOTA came out.
>>387118872

>tfw my friend adds custom mechanics, custom planets, overhauls mechanics and basically turns Pre-CU Galaxies into what Galaxies could've been without the NGE

The SWG community doesn't deserve to live after that.
>>387121535
well I was a jaded 11 year old kid. Didnt know any better back then.
Still, early wow was probably the most immersive experience Ive ever had with games
Daily reminder that min/maxing "hardcore" raider fags ruined mmos by throwing huge sperg tantrums any time the devs didn't make content that pandered to them thus removing any and all variety from end game content.
>>387121208
I don't need these EQ feels at 4 AM, friend.
Would that I could enjoy a video game for 6 hours+ at a time these days.
>>387121535
SWG is a distant memory, it was a shit feeling watching the cities turn into ghost towns but I've since moved on. What continues to irritate me is they could have flipped this and made something better, SoE was never good they were always just crazy enough to try something different. Just about anybody would have been a step up. What do they do? They run off and throw the fucking IP to BioWare and say "make me WoW" and BioWare couldn't even manage to do that properly. You can effectively use Cheat Engine in SWTOR. How is this possible.
>>387119095
it's a shame planetside 2 is such a lesser experience compared to planetside 1

>>387121874

>>387121874
SOE had nothing to do with those decisions. Blame Lucas. Seriously, he was personally involved with these decisions.
>>387114896
>he fell for the jewcraft meme
Threads like these ferret out the cucks on this board.
>>387122023
Well, I did say they were crazy.
>>387122068
Fair enough, they still managed quality control though. Something SWG was severely lacking, it was littered with bugs.
>>387122126
QC maybe but even the NGE was handled by Lucas directly. He was PISSED Warcraft was outperforming Star Wars given the IP recognition and famously said that players were not interested in being Uncle Owen the moisture farmer.
Galaxies was developed out of a garage in 2000 by three guys and began full production in 2001. Keep that in mind.
even though it sucked at times, I miss it so much
>>387122259
I wasn't aware of that. Explains why half the skill tapes/modifiers didn't work. I've read about how sketchy Lucas was when it came to making video games, specifically the Darth Maul game so it makes sense.
>>387122557
Darth Icky

>>387122557
>specifically the Darth Maul game
>Lucas takes a statue of Darth Maul, and a statue of a Twi'lekk Sith from hundreds of eyars later i nthe timeline "
>"Look! they're friends!"
the best thing to ever happen to star wars was for it to be taken from Lucas' hands.
the reason the first two were so good was that people weren't afraid to tell lucas "no thats a shit idea" after that point he surrounded himself with yes men.
the only reason Luke wasn't named Starkiller and didn't have a ROBOT HEAD was because someone told him that was a terrible idea.
