Super Metroid and Castlevania Symphony of the Night if you're looking for more exploration.
Kirby Superstar if you want to feel overpowered but still have fun.
Classic Sonic games naturally for speed and momentum.

I also have a desire for instant gratification and 4chan is the drug that gives it to me. Without 4chan, I'd probably be doing something else like learning something in which I am interested.

It's not about being weak. As many dissenting opinions as /v/ has, there is an overall vibe of cynicism that can slowly taint you over the years. From reading the OP to a depressing thread to coming across frequent shitposting, the overall negativity will have a worse impact compared to more positive environments. You'll be addicted to instant gratification when you see those little red exclamation marks in your tab or a (You). It's like a tiny shot of endorphins straight to your brain. Don't let yourself fall prey to it. There is so much better out there, but it's much harder to find. I often find myself wishing I could just MAKE a better website and go there. Because as much as you don't think it will happen, "browsing 4chan" becomes one of your biggest hobbies rather than a means to a clear end. There are tons of people who don't even play video games anymore because 4chan offers easier gratification. It's just not worth it.

Yeah, but all the things I can think of wasting my life on would require a bit more effort than posting here. Maybe if I never came here, I wouldn't be so quick to give up on things. I'm re-learning programming right now after building up the nerve to do so for literally 6 years, but I can't drop the nagging desire for some quick form of gratification. I would like to be disconnected from the internet for a year with no way of being able to use it on any device. I think that's the only way I could get off here and start living for something else. I'm not strong-willed enough to choose the long-term gratification over the short-term gratification.
