It was pretty neat to see people hanging out at seasonal events and actually doing stuff other than grinding the currency for the seasonal items. Old Enochian had a buffer, new didn't. It dies with AF/UI taking <100% Foul and Umbral Hearts with it. Losing Enochian in 4.0 sets you back further and you're still fighting tight timers to keep it from dropping. The skill's cooldown doesn't have anything to do with keeping it up. It's there to serve as a 30-second punishment if you drop it right after pressing it.

It's not. Cleared 4.0 savage and realized there wasn't anything to do that I enjoyed. I only get on to cap tomes and raid on Tuesday now. That's entirely on you and how anal you want to be about what qualifies as "plays like". If you mean caster that spends and regens mana and has a DPS cooldown that limits their movement by putting down a circle they can't move too far from then WoW's Arcane mage has played like that for a while. If you expand your definition to simply spending and regenerating resource to deal damage and not strictly mana pretty much ever MMO probably has something that fits the bill. If you are going to dismiss anything that doesn't 100% carbon copy all of BLMs abilities and rotation to the letter then yeah, I guess you can say it's unique in that sense.

It's probably worth the $60 but I wouldn't say it's worth the $15. It has absolutely no lastability to any of it. It is the most exciting when a new batch of quests and instances comes out and you go through it wide-eyed seeing it for the first time. Storyline naturally isn't meant to be repeated, instances aren't generally challenging enough to keep you interested on repeated takes, there's just too few raids to keep you occupied for too long (more on that later) and PVP is a huge joke both because of its design and this game's community. What are you gonna do? Big fishing? Fucking please.

So the only thing that consistently remains somewhat fun to do are endgame boss fights (Savage and Extreme specifically), but even that is quickly losing its luster as encounters become more and more contextless, uncreative and easy, good players all become obsessed with that orange parse number rather than the fun of it and, with how few fights there are to begin with, it all slides into irrelevancy faster and faster.
