Luna did technically have the spear that Noctis inherits during her time in Altissia, but personally I'd rather we learn what in the world was going on with Ravus or even Aranea due to how much time was spent on them without having to go to external sources. In the game Ravus literally goes from "I hate these guys and want them dead" while working with the Empire to "King Noctis you are the best guy ever, you need to save us" within the span of a chapter or two for no reason, it's ridiculous. Same deal with Aranea, she fights you for the Empire and looks to be an antagonist but then is suddenly your best friend for the remainder of the game.

It was fine up until you get to Altissia and then nothing gets explained and the game just assumes you know why these people change allegiances so quickly. The Empire goes from being this massive threat to the daemons just suddenly being the biggest problem as soon as you leave to Altissia.

Aranea is easy to explain. She is a mercenary and her contract with the empire ran out and she never bothered to renew it

Ravus was such a goddamn waste. He shows up apparently already having a history with the other characters, pushes Gladbag's shit in and acts like he's going to be a constant source of issues, then just fucks off until the end. The "secretly a good guy with shitty methods" trope doesn't work when the character has next to no presence. The extra little scene we got from the edited chapter 13 only made it worse.
