This is unironically my favorite FF game

the story was very meta: the "hero" is not really a hero, the party is not very loyal to each other, the protagonist has no clue wtf is going on

I've said this before, It really isn't as bad as people say.
I personally picked it up for dirt cheap couple years ago, despite having heard all sorts of shit about it.

The BEGINNING really didn't even try to prove all the bad claims about it wrong, but luckily, to my own surprise as well, the more I played, the more entertaining and hooking it became. It's not GOTYAY or best JRPG ever in any sense, but it's FAR from the "worst crap ever" -category. A solid 7/10 experience IMO.

The sequels fixed, expanded and improved many things, especially pacing and gameplay. Up to you whether you like the direction they went with the plot and cast, but they're not hideous either. I found especially LR to be total blast, easily my 2014's GOTY. The 13-2 was simply fun, easily a 8/10 the very least.

I liked Sazh but that was about it. I'm sure someone will correct me on it but I think stat (ability?) wise and stuff he kinda falls off anyways.

The sequels especially XIII-2 must be some of the most retarded things Square has eve done. XIII-2 is literally bad fanfic with a watered down battle system. LR was fine for the battle system alone.

I don't see that at all. They remedied one of the people's biggest complaints about XIII, the Leader dying leading to Game Over, and the "Pokemon" aspect was just a great, fun addition.

I know but at least the relent stuff in XIII was not in cutscenes were in the data log. Which is more than other games where you had to get DLC to fill in holes in the story (looking at you XV)

I liked it too. Wasn't particularly amazing I'll admit but I liked the combat, didn't find the artstyle horrible, and it looked pretty at the time on the PS3. Didn't like XIII-2 at all though, Battle system had most rolls feeling useless you could just brute the whole game, and the time travel shit I wasn't a big fan of, I will admit it being less linear was nice, felt like it had more side things to do, and the Time travel wasn't a bad idea I just didn't like the execution felt like I was playing a shitty Japanese Quantum leap. Have yet to play LR though.

Snow's design got better as the games went on

The combat system is great, music is pretty cool and it's got a Majora's Mask style approach with time and all.
