Left, so long as it has good tabs.

All of those are shit.
>>

Over-encumbrance is awful in almost all rpgs.
From realized this and made souls better by removing it.
It's only a good mechanic for building up tension, in survival games.
>>
>>387080692
Right
Wished they had something like this in Bioshock
>>
>>387081416
forgot to say that my favorite, is volumetric.
>>
>>387080692
I'll have to go with FO3, showing images instead of text descriptions is retarded
>>
RE4.
>>
>>387081416
i think we should remove items from games as well
and classes
just focus on the gameplay y'know?
>>
>>387081085
That's the same as Fallout though, just arranged different. Same concept
>>387081416
You can't sell weapons for (good) money though in souls. Imagine in Fallout New Vegas being able to take all the gold bars out of the Sierra Madre just because there's no encumbrance.

volumetric best for rpgs, and if you get the option for extra space by carrying bags on your back or in hands thats an awesome bonus. Only really notice Neo Scavenger doing this.
>>387081085
is that your pick? because thats the same shit as list
>>
>>387080692
Volumetric a fucking best.
Proof: Diablo 2, RE4

But the way it is arranged doesn't make any sense sometimes. i.e. tiny things taking up an entire space tile.

It's frustrating to arrange and organize and stops gameplay.
>>
>>387080692
The kind that's in Dude Sex is easily the most navigable, scrolling through a list is a pain in the ass.
>>
>>387081779
Most times you can make multiple trips to get all the loot, the only thing stopping you is boredom.
I don't remember Sierra Madre, so I can't speak for this example. But unless the game is tightly designed encumbrance only brings annoyance and boredom
>>
inventory tetris for sure
>>

>It's frustrating to arrange and organize and stops gameplay.
It IS gameplay. It's an RPG. You role play the character, and for him to carry all his stuff he has to neatly pack it into his bag. You could just throw it in there, but then not as much will fit.
Try it IRL. Grab a bag and just throw things in. Then you try again neatly packing.
>>
List > Volumetric > Tile
Volumetric is lower than list because it is something that just doesn't work in all games but it has its place.
>>
>>387084581
Nobody plays RPGs for that tho
>>
>>387083830
>>387081779
You don't fucking need money in New Vegas either.
>>
>>387080692
Having used all three, all of them are fine

I actually don't mind 99% of games inv. management, but they have to be at least utilitarian enough for me to acsess my stuff without a huge amount of trouble

Skyrim for example I fucking hate its inventory, counterproductive as fuck.
>>
>>387086840
Isn't that just a list inventory?

I've only played it for like 4 hours before deciding against ever buying it and playing it so I don't really know.
>>
>>387080692

Always paperdoll inventory, no exceptions ever.

List based inventories are retardedly bad design, you always end up scrolling through 300 items to try and find the one thing you wanted. Hate that garbage.

Not even for Deus Ex?

For RPGs, middle. You're carrying way too much stuff most of the time so you either play tetris on a 1000x2000 grid or dump everything that's not vital. For stuff like RE where you don't carry 50 potions right is fun to mess around with and adds a bit of depth.
>>
>no discrete tiles, you just pile in stuff anywhere
>encumbrance is a non-factor, you can basically hold everything in the game at once
>inventory gets so messy if you don't organize that you can't find what you are looking for in combat
>individual bags, chests and boxes for organizing things
>have to use hands to access your holders

This is the best system, and also the only game I can think of that uses this.
