They are afraid of the reaction it will cause since it isn't going to be a remake the way REmake was a remake. The game is going to likely be either RE4 style or maybe even RE7 style remake. They will also be changing a lot of the levels to accommodate this.

If Final Fantasy VII can change then so can the remake of RE2 in Capcom's eyes. This is the future you chose neckbeards. This is ultimately what you wanted since you keep begging for perfectly fine games to be remade.

Friendly reminder that Resident Evil 2 is the most overrated of the series with a piece of shit story, nonsensical layout and a superbly easy difficulty with too many herbs and too much ammo. Couldn't even do an arrange mode properly, create a proper police station or write a logical reason why one of the main protagonists is arriving to a town days after an outbreak in a police outfit nobody else wears at fucking night. Trash.

And yes, I just got my shit fucked by Mr. X at the very end of the game on Scenario B with Claire because I fired my rocket launcher shots too close to him. The gameplay still makes it a classic. Still love it.
