The way I look at is if I want a team based "arena style" I can play overwatch, a much more established game. If I want a solo arena shooter game I can play the new quake for free. Why would anyone actually buy that game with the other options available

I've been playing it for awhile and like it a lot, although Harrier deals too much damage and it's super abusable and Wraith is too fast and versatile to be left just like that ingame. Blitzball is fun until there's a Wraith supercapping around the map so fast that not even the TTK can keep him from doing it again and again.

I hope it grows because it's good.

Is it wrong that I like the concept? Fuck mana/ammo managmenet. Ults are kind of stupid and cheap though. Destiny strikes the middleground there, with your heavy weapons essentially being the ults, but the ammo for them is essentially a Quake-style pickup that you have to fight for. Too bad the game itself was shit.

well as a business you have two options: Release something different, hoping to replace CoD, or release something similar hoping to replace CoD.

In either case, besides timing, the business model is likely based on a fallback of smallest possible playerbase to stay profitable. I doubt Lawbreakers (or Battleborn) achieved this, but I also doubt Lawbreakers was particularly expensive.
