Caius not being the big bad of Lightning Returns will forever be one of the SE's biggest story fuck ups. He's actually the best FF villain since Sephiroth (Yes, better than Jecht and Gabranth) with actual good motivations. The fact that he wins in the end of 13-2 and gets little more than a cameo in LR is so fucking dumb, it's one of the many reasons why I hate that game.

FF 13-2 is unironically of my favorite in the series:

It has a serviceable plot, great characters (Noel doesn't really get feelings for Serah, Serah is actually kinda fun for a waifu character, Caius was an excellent villain), the casino DLC was amazingly fun, and the QTEs aren't actually that bad, considering the final one in the game adds so much unbelievable tension to the story at that moment even if it ultimately meant nothing. My only gripes are the game being too easy, the whole Pokemon aspect instead of a third character (kinda alleviated by the DLC), and how technology and civilization seems to just stagnate for 200 years
