The update wasn't even that good. They just fixed some textures, made some changes to planet gen RNG, added some radiant Quests that are all dogshit and made a few changes to the trade System.

The game might be decently playable when/if they hit version 2.0 but right now it's the same old shit with a few extra sparkles on top.

A delayed game might be good on release, there is no guarantee purely because overwhelmingly delays are these very short crunch periods.
A bad game is bad at release and will either remain that way or get better.

Depends. If you dont like the grindy aspects there's creative mode which is basically Godmode.

If you like aesthetic space exploration in an imaginary universe while listening to cool ambience, yeah this might be fun for a while. Be aware the universe itself is very barren and planet biomes are not very interesting without mods.
The game relies mostly on YOU to make a good time out of it. The game's design is pretty bad and grindy.

The solar systems are separated by instance, not truly allowing you to take in the vastness of space when its separated to different coloured dark matter spaceboxes, you only really see the expansiveness through the galactic map.

If that still sounds cool, Yeah 25$ is a good price.

If you want a more (ironically) surreal "space is scary" experience in OUR vast universe, and dont care for the gamey aspects like missions, story, random aliens and monsters and such, then skip NMS entirely and download the free to use Space Engine.

The planet generation is good enough to keep you entertained for a few weeks if you don't expect every planet you land on to be fucking amazing. I played for about a month after launch and then another month after the foundation update, I was still finding interesting new planets when I quit playing each time. "Types" of planets is pretty narrow but the terrain can differ quite a bit.

The flora and fauna I agree they fucked up hard on. Once again, you can still find cool new shit for about a week but then you've for the most part seen everything. The generation is way too narrow. I haven't tried the new update but they have allegedly addressed it.
