Fucking Gearbox just give me a disappointing ending to the series already.
>>387034395
Spec Ops: The Line
>>387034902
The disappointment was Hell Highway, the first 2 chapters were excellent, the third one was just "we want gears of wars and cowwadooty audience"
Call of Duty Black Ops
Just finished Spec Ops: The line
Bretty good, though the downed helicopter defense was annoying
Didn't get all that emotional blow over the bacon civvies, maybe I'm just too edgh

That's rough, kids being forced to fight
>>387035156
one of these kids eventually became the pope.
Cannon Fodder
>War has never been so much fun!
>>387035156
ah, the nazis were such proud and noble fighters, sending out children to the front lines
>>387035667
Nothing unusual, italy calls kids born in 1898 "lost generation" because as soon as they turned 16 they were sent to the trenches
When shit hit the fan for germans in 1944/1945 they started recruiting everything they had at hand, teens, prisoners, old people. They were the last defense since every man capable of fighting was already dead in russia or retreating from france/italy
>>387035667
I would take this bait seriously if it weren't for the fact that you're likely to be a weeb.

You can't really portray the idea that war is hell in a video game. This is perhaps the greatest downside of gameplay. In most situations, gameplay adds a dimension that makes a game much more than just a movie. It's not without reason that many people can't stand "cinematic" games, after all. But if you add gameplay to a narrative , the player is going to want to have fun with it regardless of what the narrative says.
Movies can get away with providing many types of emotional experiences. A movie can create a fairly accurate portrayal of why war is awful and make the viewer feel sad, angry or scared at the things that happen in war. And while a game can do all those things just as well, it's the fact that you have to add gameplay which almost completely nullifies the impact of that. Take Spec Ops: the Line, for example. The story definitely has strong anti-war sentiments, but because the player is there to have fun and shoot shit up, it ends up coming across as extremely forced and preachy in its anti-war segments.
I think the most effective anti-war games there are, are games that don't actually let the player fight the war. Stuff like This War of Mine, for example, is a lot more impactful than Spec Ops: the Line. It doesn't let the player experience war like it's a fun adventure with some melodramatic cutscenes, but instead has the player deal with the results of a war. And even then, TWoM tends to devolve into its basic gameplay components (gather resources, build a bed, gather food, eat, etc.) with minimal emotional impact.

In the "Crossroads" episode of Band of Brothers, they rout an SS regiment, and all the wehraboos cry about typical american propaganda, when that shit actually happened. Hell the SS was utter trash in 44, in the episode they even say they were Polish conscripts.

Nah get fucked retard, I legit enjoyed reading his post and I wanted to show my appreciation of a well made post in this board filled with shitposters like (You)
>>387037714
Yeah but don't people kind of get some pleasure in th midst of combat? I admit games can't give you the same feeling of horror you get in war due to being disconnected with reality but neither really can movies. Movies can make you sympathize but not really understand.

xd. Epic shitpost.
It's certainly clear these kids were "forced to fight". You can bet your ass if german kids were fighting in WW2 the propaganda machine would never let you hear the end of it.
Times were tough for the Germans for a long ass time. But they remained relatively sturdy in both abiding to their morals and their values. I don't believe for a single second any child would ever be forced to fight under the nazi reign.

Red Orchestra/Rising Storm, ArmA and Wargame series. They achieve that simply by playing war straight, without storyweight cliches like heroism or moralising.
They make you think "Thank fucking god, it's not for real!"

Those kids are too dumb to appreciate not being captured by the Soviets

Correct, it is not unusual for Nazi scum to see human life as expendable
