When Heartstone was first showcased, It was on a blizzcon after announcing they will release a new game.
So, must common sane people think it was WC4, but even that was a far stretch because it was known the developers were a pretty small team.
Most people then thought it was going to be shit, but failed not because the game was awesome, but because of the context of the game being able to sit on Blizzards safety net while wow monkeys and casuals steadily support it through rising twich streamers worst timeline.

But this was not Valve's case.
This is not a small "refreshing" game to cash on nostalgia and a common IP by a very small side team while you work in your next big game (OW).

Nobody asked for Hearstone, but Hearstone wasn't, and is not, World Of Warcraft: The Card Game.

alright so tell me how all the mechanics work? is deckbuilding based on a hero like an mtg edh deck? is the resource system similar to hearthstone where it gives you them automatically based on turns or is it more akin to magic where your resources are based on the type of deck? is there multiple types of resources like a gold for items and mana for spells and if so how is each of these acquired do you start with a flat amount of mana and obtain more as you level up? how does leveling up work at all?
is it multiplayer in a way that is more than 1v1? can a team play together or do you play a bunch of hero cards and then put them in lanes? how do the lanes work at all? is your hero placed in one and then interacts with opposing heroes placed in that lane or can they move freely from lane to lane? is there some variant of roaming/jungling?

theres a lot about the dota gameplay that doesn't cleanly transfer to a cardgame, just because you can imagine a variant in your head of how the mechanics might work doesn't mean we know how the mechanics do work.

also monopoly isnt even a cardgame thats a terrible example
