FRIENDLY REMINDER

The small minority of prolific samefags that support the game blindly should be ridiculed or avoided. Their posts are redundant and easy to spot often including:

>Sape (negative)
>Thal (positive)
>Incline
>Blobber
>The spelling "Grimwah"
>Pressure to purchase Grimoire
>Contempt for the pirating of Grimoire
>Claims that uploaded copies of Grimoire contain viruses, bitcoin miners, keyloggers
>Insults and slurs intended to bait someone named Andrew
>Labeling of the game's art style as competent to gorgeous
>Labeling of the game's detractors as "Goons" or "Weebs"
>Stale memes
>a heavy reliance on buzzwards
>Idolatry involving Cleveland Blakemore
>Prejudices within the genre based on game region
>Grandstanding
>Elitism
>Rabid belligerence
>Ignorance regarding good game design
>Ignorance regarding good writing
>Ignorance regarding color theory
>Ignorance regarding math and the interactivity of simple systems

Poor reasoning and argumentative skills are also characteristic. When faced with logic they'll adopt a veteran gamer stance and insist their opponent is better suited playing games generally regarded as casual, i.e. "Go back to Skyrim, kid." Or the new favorite, "You haven't even played Wizardry."

Bottom of the barrel shitposts from rookie anglers.

>Buggy as hell on release
>Dev patches game
>Creates more bugs
>Also, save files were being corrupted
>Repeat 2 more times over the course of a week
>People are refunding game left and right.
>Discovered that stats do nothing
>Discovered that final areas of the game are unfinished
>DRM being planned by Dev to stop piracy
>Shills downplay every major issue and accuse anyone who shits on game of being a reddittor/goon/SJW/etc. because they believe that anyone who hates the game is a part of some conspiracy to ruin the game because the Dev is outspoken /pol/lack.
>Now that the 10% off sale has ended, shills are nowhere to be found.
>Each thread made in the last two days dies before reaching 150 posts on average.

Were you in the earlier grimwah threads? If you were, you would've seen all kinds of shills spouting their moronic opinions (which basically boiled down to "everything that isn't grimwah is made for casuals and all grimwah's flaws are a conspiracy made by SJW's.")

I think the dumbest post I saw was some shill going on about how Grimwah was more complex than Dwarf Fortress because DF uses ASCII graphics while Grimwah has used "actual" assets that took more time to program for.

And his reasoning for this? He watched a Let's Play of it and read boatmurdered one time, so that meant that he was an expert on it even though he never actually played it.

I mean. Why do people shill all the time? Not everyone is a paid advertiser. Some people made a bad purchase and just get in denial about it. Like the hype was too real, so they run they search desperately for the good things and then get defensive when people say its bad. Then you're installing a mod that removes the stupid red glow around enemies that ruins the whole character customization side of the game and without that you're playing a shitty dumbed down Enemy Territory, a free game. But this time you paid 50 dollars for it. Why did I pay 50 dollars for Brink, someone pls explain it to me.

They're not professional payed shills, they're fanboys who truly believe that this game is good, well, not just good, better than everything else in the market. Many have been following development for years, others adore Cleve because of his internet persona, in any case they're too emotionally invested to realize that the game is mediocre and that quantity doesn't equal quality.
>>
>>387035594
It ironic you say this considering this posts sounds retarded as hell.

You shills just don't know how to keep a low profile don't you? Just because the dev fixed the bug eventually doesn't mean that it didn't happen (multiple times, lol), nor does it mean that the game didn't lose momentum because of it.

Next time, lurk more and stay quiet.

Literally any indie game released in the past five years, even the shitty ones. I could buy Wizardry 6-8 for a fraction of the price Grimoire is asking of me, I can play games like DF, Nethack, or Adon for FREE, and even games like Mighty Number 9 or Yooka Laylee came out with less issues at launch than Grimwah did, and MN9's Wii U port is exceptionally shit.
>Oh this is cute, tell me what other excellent successor to Wizardry are there in the market right now?
None, because the genre is dead and became shit like SMT and Etrian Odyssey, whose only similarities are being single-player, first person, dungeon crawls where everyone in the party moves at the same time.
>>
>>387036890
> Did codexfags gave up on shilling?
Yes, they only needed to push people to buying the game while it was on sale. Now that the game's done, there's no reason to shill this garbage anymore.

Yeah, anybody could've posted it but it can be read as a personal observation as well. (why else would a dev be exposed to shitposts everyday unless he's shilling on /v/, though...)

Kek at Cleve playing victim if the latter were the case.
>>
>>387037551
Unfortunately yes. Most of your stat boosts come from your race/class and the points you put in don't really matter for much, aside from a negligible boost that won't be noticeable during actual play.

Actually we have no proof of that. Are you going to trust someone who used cheats engine to modify stats? Cleve uses rolling stat totals at four different addresses to save registry processing or some shit. It's literally nuclear power plant coding level, ancient numerics that most shitters today will never ever comprehend.
>>
>>387036643
>You marketers were talking about how this shit was more complex than DF
Wtf are you babbling about you comple utter strawmanning retard? I love DF and think it is a more complex game than Grimoire but that doesn't mean Grimoire itself isn't a good and agreat successor to Wizardry.

>>387037001
So I was right, there are literally no other fucking modern DRPG that can compare to Grimoire. The only other examples are horrible weeb Dungeon Crawler like EO and SMT which is a mockery to Wizardry.

>Literally any indie game
Face it, you're literally scraping the bottom of the barrel for your argument. Most of the bugs have been fixed and the game requires more hours to complete than your average SanFrankenstein and Commiefornian AIDS dispensing indie games.

Also, why does my previous post got deleted

>>387038204

You shills keep saying this and yet you never actually show us any proof that it isn't so. Now if it wasn't true, surely you'd be able to disprove it easily, wouldn't you say?
>Cleve uses rolling stat totals at four different addresses to save registry processing or some shit.
>It's literally nuclear power plant coding level, ancient numerics that most shitters today will never ever comprehend.
There's a reason why modern engines don't require this much bullshit to work anon. This is the year 2017, we've long since evolved past the need to compute code in this manner.

...coupled with this response is what makes you an obvious marketer/troll.

You can't just state your opinion on a thing, you have to do so while also shitting on something else, like those TV ads where people "compare" different brands of toilet paper and their brand ends up being more absorbent.

If you have to state an opinion, just state the opinion. Don't try to talk down to other games just because your game is crashing and burning.

Playing the super demo already knocks about 20 hours off of that estimate. I restarted the game at one point and it took me 2 hours to make what was previously 6 hours worth of progress.

Grimoire is averaging just under 300 players per day, and sold to around 3000 players:
https://steamdb.info/app/650670/

Most Grimoire players will not be participating in Grimoire threads because the game broke their /v/ addiction and actually rekindled a love of video games long since lost, and also because you can't alt-tab out of it while playing.

You know that the only reason you are here is because video games lost their thrill, so you shitpost about a hobby you once enjoyed but no longer can. Grimoire has that thrill.

>>
>>387052170
They don't function like stats in Wizardry.

Stats in Grimoire serve as a way to unlock classes and there is a number for specific stats needed to finish certain puzzles.

For example, to beat the Entity in a Mind Contest, you cannot do it with 124 Int, but you can with 125 Int. Your other stats don't matter, at 124 Int, it was impossible to do from 0 to 100. You need a combined total of something like 150 Str to pull a plug later in the game. You need a certain amount of Int to read certain runes and monoliths.

Dev has an impact, but it bugs up later in the game with a high enough turn count which is unfortunate but probably a problem due to the way it is coded. Vit lowers by % depending on action used, con might increase Vit but it doesn't matter in the long run because if someone has 1k vit and another has 200, they'll run out at the same time with the same actions used, vit doesn't mean anything as a result. In fact, with Refresh, lower Vit is better because of the fact it lowers by %, refresh gets exponentially worse with higher Vit. Spe has a noticeable impact and is necessary later to avoid instant death. Wis and Int only serve to possibly gain skill-ups when casting spells and that's all. Des is noticeable because it increases the % chance of not dying to instant kill attacks. Using an NPC with 100+ Str/Agi and a Berserker with 60/50, they deal the same damage with the same weapons, and neither has a problem penetrating or missing even when raising an enemy's AC with paralyze.

Casting Skill doesn't actually mean anything either as far as I can tell because here at the End-Game, I tried casting Rainbow Rays on a Sage with 4 sorcery and another with 70 sorcery, and they have the same rate of failure.

Everything else is too low of an impact to actually matter.

On a character with Healing spells, right-click and click Heal.

Like most other things in the game, it is bugged. After fulling healing him, which takes over 200 Magic in healing depending on luck, he thanks you and says he is no longer hurt. He gives you nothing, you get nothing and it is never brought up again. You go to Naiad and she also doesn't notice that Nick is healed and you get nothing for your efforts. Even when asking about Nick or what not. She is probably supposed to give you the Musical Instrument to summon creatures when on water tiles[with 2 charges] but she doesn't, even after finishing all of Waterport's quests and everything in the ocean, so just steal it.

Not that it matters anyway because if you did the sidequests and got the Mollusk Helmet, the Kraken won't attack and it'll fuck up the Kraken triggers because even if it went away it doesn't die so everyone still asks you to kill it and you don't get a reward for the entire thing like you should.

Those are not correct sales numbers from Steam. In fact, unless you are Valve or the Publisher, you do not have the actual sales numbers.

Steamspy and all the trackers extrapolate sales figures from guesswork algorithms based on various metrics (sales ranking, concurrent players, number of players with achievements, trading cards in circulation, etc.)

Since this game has zero Steam integration, the tracker sites are even more worthless.

However, you can get a pretty good idea about paid Steam users of the game by looking at reviews, comments and having experience from selling games on Steam.

My guess... less than 1000 (probably less than 750 after refunds) actual Steam sales and who knows how many keys sent out to IndieGoGo backers.

Anyway, actual net income in $ is probably less than $20k from Steam. Then he gets to pay taxes.

Though he does state he expects to sell 360k copies when all is said and done.

I like the game (the .5 to .7 save problem was frustrating) and have just a tad bit over 100 hours in it so far.

What I don't like, is the idea that a single player game can be "dead" and then no one will want to buy/play it, releasing a game that obviously has the exact same issues that were in the Nov beta build and just hope things work out, being snarky to your customer base.

I don't know the dev personally, but have participated in a good number of discussions that happened to include him.

And like I said above, him releasing the game is a huge win, since many people that dream of releasing game, remain being a dreamer and no more.

It's just shills trying to force a narrative in which Reddit is fucking up the game's reputation to spite Cleve, even though most of the game's faults can be attributed to Cleve's shitty programming.

I'm not going to go through the trouble for a game that isn't worth it anon. Maybe in a month once Cleve's done fucking with the code but not today.

It's no harder than emulation.

The actual exe and res file is quite primitive, and there hasn't been any keylogger on any of the mega uploads that I have seen posted in these parts.

However, if concerned, block it via firewall and scan it with the anti logger beta from Malwarebytes.

But I agree with you that waiting until the codebase is "stable" is probably for the best if you do not plan on getting it through Steam.

Actual one man devs have released better games, with less buggy releases, and more content to boot.

Hell, most of my favorite games were released by one dude who posted them on freeware sites for people to download at their leisure.

In a sense Grimoire is a game that holds little appeal to a modern player seeing as it is, effectively, a Wizardry 7 successor. RPG players of today have no idea what to make of it.

Aside from it being a buggy ass game that had way more technical flaws than it needed to have, given the delays and the time it took to "finish."

I'm reluctant to believe that getting another ending is going to take up 15 hours, let alone 515 hours of playtime.

Besides, the pitch on steam said that it would take 600 hours per playthrough. Nice try shill.

It's one area, the only difference is dialogue, the route you go and what item you chose from the Owl.

It's not going to take that much more time for the other endings.

85 hours for an RPG is relatively short when compared to games like Doom and Destiny, Final Fantasy, SMT, Wizardry, The Witcher, Dragon Age, etc.
>You just got Todd'd
That would imply that I wasted money on this turd.

>600 hours "possible"
he can grind levels for another 500 hours
>>
>>387070829
If you need to add level grinding to bolster your game's playtime then you have some serious issues that go beyond it being too short.

Seriously, there are few RPG's that don't require grinding in some fashion.
>>
>>387071047
There is also some serious backtracking involved, so now with a documented playthru and the various community wikis, i imagine a 60 hour walkthrough will be the norm.

The weird thing is his party was all lvl 9~10, with the minimum level required for multiclassing being 10 (apparently it doesnt even work properly, anons couldnt get assassin skills no matter what).
Lethal blow + deep freeze + hasted bard/sage never stops being a thing.

Wow. This thread is a symptom of a disease. The amount of coping both ways that's going on in this thread for something so plain and simple indicates you have been doing this for way too fucking long. I am so sorry your game hasn't come out yet, guys, but you have to admit you've been put in this defensive-offensive stance means you've been mulling over an unfinished project for way too long. The subcultures going on in this thread regarding this game are far too advanced for what should otherwise be a throwback toy. Something is clearly wrong. At least you can admit this isn't the way it's supposed to be, right?

>Vit lowers by % depending on action used, con might increase Vit but it doesn't matter in the long run because if someone has 1k vit and another has 200, they'll run out at the same time with the same actions used, vit doesn't mean anything as a result. In fact, with Refresh, lower Vit is better because of the fact it lowers by %, refresh gets exponentially worse with higher Vit.
Holy shit that's retarded

It's actually really good if you're into old school dungeon crawlers. Haven't had any issues yet with crashes or bugs.
