its combat would be significantly improved if baddies weren't all damage sponges but they are so meh. i still enjoyed the story and the banter between companions is alive and well

but like any game part of a series it leaves you wishing they didnt fuck up and you are wishing for more of the first.
origins is better in pretty much every respect except graphics

I about 100%'d it, haven't played any other DA game. When I think back on it I really only remember the parts when I actually enjoyed it and had fun, the only major negative I can think of is how ridiculously grindy and full of meaningless quests it is.

7/10, worth a play.

DAO was my goat game. I never played DA2 because I was preoccupied at the time, but I got DAI when I had my life together and could just sit down and play a video game and get a shovel of shit thrown right into my face.

I tried to like it, I really did, I got pretty far into it. But in the end I had to drop it- I realized that it's really hard to look forward to anything these days.

I really did not like the Dragon Age 2 storyline. The time jumps felt needlessly massive when compared to how little actually seems to change, the mage/templar conflict just isn't as engaging as the Dark Spawn threat, and the story just seems to drag on in circles.

But hey, to each their own. The characters are pretty good.

You are correct but I meant I liked it more than DAI's story for sure. To me at least it has some nice built up tension in the second act, which is clearly the best one.
DAI is just going through the fantasy motions with bland characters and maybe 1-2 interesting quests there and that's it.

i found the mages the most interesting part of the first game. even more than the darkspawn. i love how they were seen in society as more than just normal people with powers. templars were interesting but i was more intrigued by how society viewed them not just the hunters. 2 fucked that and i just wanted more darkspawn

it had some high points mechanically as well

I started playing it, but MMO style "kill X bozos and collect Y foreskins" doesn't cut it in a single player game. I wasn't compelled at all to keep going.

Too bad Circles are essentially gone in Orlais/Ferelden after the events of Inquisition.
