It was just a let down. They had a whole new world and gameplay open to them. Instead, they went with the caul of dooty route.

Primal was fun but it felt like a dlc. I couldn't give less of a shit about the story or characters but it's hard not to love riding a smilodon.

I hated FC3 at first but after replaying it, I love it and all. Vaas and Buck we're great villains. A fucking shame you killed Vaas the way you did.

Liking farcry 2 is some seriously weird shit, I remember playing it when it came out and thinking just how much better it would be with hacks that disabled malaria and let me swap out my weapon loadouts on the fly.

I'm actually shocked at how quickly the quality drops in FC3 past the halfway point. The game COMPLETELY runs out of ideas.
Vaas is replaced with a significantly less interesting baddie, your broham Dennis and all the other people you've met are replaced with a mean looking German who does nothing, the crafting becomes completely pointless because you've already crafted literally everything by the halfway mark, the second island is far uglier, the story stops having any sort of intrigue because Jason puts his character arc on hold until the final cutscene, and above all the game ends on a bizarrely bad pair of endings that punish you for picking the decision that makes sense for the character (Bamham Knight does this too). Bonus points for taking the character's biggest gimmick, the tatau, and covering it up the entire time. Bravo.

Wingsuit was cool though.

It's completely out of character for Jason, though, which is why I don't like it. I can get with him refusing to kill his friends, but when the entire game is about a partybro becoming a bloodthirsty warrior god, saying "lol nevermind" and going with the saccharine ending just sucks.

It's so that, while enemies may drop weapons better than what you've got, there's a system in place that discourages you from using them all the time (they aren't readily accessible and you can't customize them.)
Far Cry 2 did this with rust, but then that was taken out and nothing really replaced it in 3, forcing the npcs to use the same shitty ak lest the player gets their hands on gear way ahead of their level.

It really suck that the newer titles never learned from what Ziggy's mod did so well.

I got through Blood Dragon but that was mostly because the aesthetic and quirkiness kept me going. Is there anything substantial that FC4 offers that's different to 3?
